Sonicdescent (374), Donora, Pennsylvania, USA Aug 23, 2009 Pours a deep Marion color with pink head that turns into a crown.
Smell at first was really bad vinegar but as it warmed a little it became much more plesant cherries.
Taste is tart cherry with a dry Belgian finish. Very tasty and sweet.
Mouth is thin to medium bodied with high carbonation.
This is probably the first beer I could drink with a meal. Incredibly tasty and I will seek this out any chance I get.
shawnm213 (884), South Bend, Indiana, USA Aug 22, 2009 Pours a dark red with a pink hints. Aroma is cherries and medicine. Flavor is nice cherry pie. Not too sweet. Just right. Nice lively carbonation. Like a sparkling juice wine. Seems nice enough. Interesting to say the least. I enjoyed this, even though kylie and her dad thought it was too juice, cough syrup, sweet like. Tasty. Nice dessert beer. Fuck it. Maybe this beer is a little fruity, but I can’t stop drinking it. papajohn (1054), San Diego (Mira Mesa), California, USA Aug 22, 2009 Updated: Oct 10, 2009750ml bottle in a trade with smokepot23: Murky ruby amber color with a frothy pinkish beige head. Aroma is cherry wine. Flavor starts lightly sweet followed by tart cherries then a light dry pink champange finish. Medium body is tangy with lively carbonation. Thanks Joey. dmschefke (371), Eastpointe, Michigan, USA Aug 19, 2009 Bottle thanks to Stfun! I was very excited to try this and had pretty high hopes. Pours a reddish light brown with tan head, decent retention and lacing. Aroma slaps you in the face with cherries, tart and dried, and you really need to dig to find some toasted malt and some spices. Flavor is almost overwhelming of cherries, sweetness, and sourness. I tasted this next to Founders Cerise and honestly had difficulty differentiating between the two. This is definitely not my type of beer. It tasted like I was drinking some cherry wine and not a beer. I wanted beer with some nice strong hints of cherry. It didn’t deliver. fidelis83 (709), Clinton, Iowa, USA Aug 18, 2009 Pours a red-copper with a 2 finger chunky pink and beige head that has o.k. retention. Aroma is amazing, a mixture of fresh cherries, cherry pie filling and nilla wafers right up front, some floury sweet pasty crust and just a hint of dried and lightly toasted grains, just a touch of tartness throughout, about the level of smelling ripe cherries. Flavor is rich, ripe and delicious cherries right away. Sort of like eating a handful of cherries of different varieties ranging from rich and dark to sweet and juicy to tart and acidic. Some sweet pastry, toasted grain, a little grassiness, sweet floral notes and light hints of spice(maybe ginger and cinamon?), finishes off with a hint of grass and a nice lightly spiced cherry and burnt sugar fade. Palate is medium bodied moderately carbonated, suprisingly dry and somewhat acidic. In a word this stuff is fantastic, to me very few fruit beers balance the fruit and beer flavors very well this does it perfectly, it really is like drinking a perfectly done cherry pie. One of the best beers I have ever had. drowland (1360), Tallahassee, Florida, USA Aug 11, 2009 FANTASTIC! The aroma is full of ripe, sweet cherries with a hint of malt. The flavor is absolutely full of cherry flavor perfectly balanced with a wonderful malt/wheat backbone that makes it taste like a fresh cherry pie, including subtle spices that remind you of cinnamon and sugar sprinkled on top. One of my favorite beers! scrizzz (1252), kirkland, Washington, USA Aug 11, 2009 Oh my. Pinkish reddish hue, phenomenal pie cherry aroma, I can taste it now. Like a cherry pie gone right (not easy in my book) with crust and everything. These New Glarus fruit beers are so much more impressive to me as I am initially put off but fruit beers in general. Excellent job. deyholla (507), Bloomington, Indiana, USA Aug 5, 2009 Bottle. Poured with an amber hue and a thick white head. Aroma was full of cherries, particularly tart, with a bit of alcohol like aroma. The aroma reminded me of cough syrup. Flavor began with sweet cherries but grew in tartness through out.
