zebracakes (1214), Washington DC, USA Mar 29, 2007 Shared bottle thanks to CMUBEERMAN. Pours hazy orange cider with thin pale pink head. Aroma is tangy cherry, apple, plum; a little bit of fruit punch. Flavor is tangy cherry, apple, plum, wheat, musty. Delicious. keoki182 (305), West Bend, Wisconsin, USA Mar 21, 2007 I’ve enjoyed this fruit nectar on many occasions in the last few years, but only recently did I purchase a bottle with the intent to rate it. New Glarus Belgian Red is the greatest evidence that beer can be civilized and classy. Beer lovers rave about it, casual beer drinkers rave about it, and beer haters rave about it. Pours a beautiful light red with a nice pinkish head of foam, small CO2 bubbles race up the sides of the pint glass. This beer is best served in a champagne flute or perhaps a tulip, fwiw. The cherry nose is similar to NG’s Cherry Stout: sweet yet tart cherries. This is not cloyingly saccharine in the least. The flavor is much of the same cherry balance. Very refreshing during any point of a meal. Words can’t do this fine concoction justice. It really is a beer that has to be tasted to understand. But once you see the light, there’s no turning back. IrishBoy (2686), Bakersfield, California, USA Mar 20, 2007 Bottle from iowaherkeye; Nose of sweet cherries; color is black cherry with a small pink tinged head; flavor is cherries with tartness that lasts to the finish; reminds me of the Roy Rodgers my anut would buyt me in bars in the 1950’s (for you young’un who don’t know about those) bager (2121), Copenhagen N, Denmark Mar 18, 2007 Bottled thanks to Martin. Hazy and deep reddish in colour with a medium sized pinkish head. Wow! Cherry, cherry and more cherry. Very creamy and well balanced. jake65 (1658), Williston, North Dakota, USA Mar 17, 2007 As soon as I opened the bottle, the rich aroma of cherry pie begins to fill the kitchen. Sweet cherry pie! The nose is backed up by a solid blend of sweet and tart cherry with a little malt. Fruit dominates this beer. Thanks to badbeer for this excellent brew! BeerHawk (1175), Huntsville, Alabama, USA Mar 14, 2007 Thanks to whoever brought this to share with us at the Tennessee Spring(ish) Tasting! Poured a reddish brown color. Big aromas of cherry with some wheat notes. Reminded me a bunch of Fruit Punch Hi-C. Sweet flavor of cherries. Medium body. An interesting alternative for a dessert brew instead of a Barley Wine. tronraner (1906), Maryville, Tennessee, USA Mar 12, 2007 Bottle at the Knoxville Spring(ish) tasting. Pours hazy rust color. The aroma is very fruity, and immediately reminds me of Juicy-Juice. The flavor is berry (mostly cherry) juice. Beer elements are there, but are overwhelmed by fruit juice flavors. Some honey sweetness manifests itself, as well as some occasional faint bitterness, but its mostly cherry. Pretty good, but it’s more of a juice than a beer. Duellist17 (34), Pewaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 11, 2007 Updated: Mar 28, 2007.........Perfect. Better than ANY lambic I’ve ever tasted. Gem like color strong boquet and a HUGE taste. A beer that makes you feel lucky you live in Wisconsin.
