COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We invite you to discover this newest beer style Black IPA. Political debate rages over the origins of this jet black beer as both coasts feel they deserve credit. Our Black Top is a pleasant road connecting Villages and Communities statewide on a ride of Black IPA discovery. Expect this beer to pour a hop forward jet black glass brimming with aromatic bitterness. Brewmaster Dan skillfully weaves molasses and chocolate malt undertones with a soaring rush of clean citrus and pine hop notes, to deliver a drinkable Black IPA. Savor Black Top, like Wisconsin’s miles of licorice ribbons of ink that meander through armies of corn and bovine mowed fields. Enjoy the journey on a road less traveled.

Bottle pour dark woody brown. Nose surprisingly sweet with some fruit hop. Taste some citrus up font followed by mid palate sweetness. Some fruit. Roast comes through more inn the late palate and finish

12 oz bottle and served in a nonic pint glass; Pours a mahogany brown hue with frothy fading head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of citrus, pine, roast, anise, char,, pipe tobacco and bread. The taste is mostly ashy roast with a fair amount of fruity hops and faint diacetyl. The mouth feel is tannic and tea-baggy, very dry and honestly not has refreshing as i would like. Color me disappointed for I had high hopes for this beer since NG does such a nice job with most styles but this one is just to mundane and flawed to make me ever want another, alas I have another bottle from the "winner box" to drink.

12oz bottle from MOTORHEADTODD. Poured a slightly thinner looking super deep Tootsie Roll brown with a smaller super light beige foamy smaller head. Aroma of lightly burnt yellow grapefruit, burnt toast, darker chocolate, grassy, burnt hops. Body is medium and creamy with lighter to average carbonation, overall nice. Flavor is similar with darker lightly burnt citrus fruits, tropical fruits, tangarine, roasty, hint of chocolate. Good stuff.

Pour from a 12 oz bottle. Nice pine nose. Lots of pine resin hops and bitterness in the finish. A touch of sweetness still in the finished too. A really well balanced beer. Very easy to drink.

Bottle, thanks jack Fretty for picking this up for me. Fresh straight from Wisconsin. Pours black with a steady yellow tan head, lots of sticky lace. Nose is very hoppy for the style (which I like)--lots of citrus and floral notes. Similar flavor--roasted malts are restrained but not completely absent. Easy drinking with a citrusy finish. Alcohol super well hidden. Another fantastic new Glarus beer. No, I’m not surprised.

This is a great beer. Slightly spicy hop aroma, with roasted undertones. Nearly black appearance, but not quite. Creamy palate, but the taste is a wonderful malty pleasure with just the right amount of bitterness. Hops are a subtle blend of piney and citrus, with a pleasantly long and smooth finish. If only I lived in Wisconsin.

Up front hop aroma ...initially one side just great hop aroma and taste ala moon man which is fine... I thought just like American ipa... No black... But as u drink it a different bitterness exhibits itself with a little deeper malt back... Not as predominate as most black iPas and taste wise I still put it in the American ipa category... But good beer I love drinking it! ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Great aroma, nice citrus hop scent with a malty undertone. The taste is good but not exactly to style, blindfolded this would get mistaken for a traditional ipa. Good but not what I was hoping for.
