Poured from bottle into pint glass. Pleasantly surprised by this. Black appearance, but not overly so, as light penetrates quite easily. Nice piney hops aroma with not much else. Excellent smooth mouthfeel with subdued carbonation that prevented the the beer from becoming too sharp. Taste was excellent, the hops weren't very aggressive and neither were the roasty notes, leaving a well balanced beer that actually tasted like a "real" style rather than an experimental IPA offshoot that so any black IPAs suggest.

Buttery, citrus aroma. Deep rich color with hints of caramel. Rocky head that doesn't last too long. Medium citrus flavor with a slightly wheaty tone to it. Finishes clean.

12 oz bottle. (Kwik Trip) Lake Mills, WI.
Dark reddish brown colour with a small tan head.
Grassy and fruity hops, liquorice, mild roasted malt and mild bitterness in a delicious aroma.
Very balanced. The flavour is a bit more leaning to a porter and the aroma to an IPA.
Roasted malt, bitterness, berries and grassy hops in the flavour. Nice and tasty.

Bottle: Dark brown with an off-white head with a warm inviting aroma of juniper, apricot, a piece of rye bread in the toaster, and grapefruit. Hoppy flavors but not overpowering. Creamy feel, very nice. Thick bitter aftertastes with lots of juniper.

12oz bottle brought back from Wisconsin. Dark brown with a lasting tan head. Soft light roast aroma. Big hoppy flavor and moderate bitterness. Soft roasted flavors are rounding out everything. Very nice CDA or Black IPA or whatever.
