COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
We invite you to discover this newest beer style Black IPA. Political debate rages over the origins of this jet black beer as both coasts feel they deserve credit. Our Black Top is a pleasant road connecting Villages and Communities statewide on a ride of Black IPA discovery. Expect this beer to pour a hop forward jet black glass brimming with aromatic bitterness. Brewmaster Dan skillfully weaves molasses and chocolate malt undertones with a soaring rush of clean citrus and pine hop notes, to deliver a drinkable Black IPA. Savor Black Top, like Wisconsin’s miles of licorice ribbons of ink that meander through armies of corn and bovine mowed fields. Enjoy the journey on a road less traveled.

A solid beer from New Glarus. Nothing spectacular but I like it none the less.

12oz Bottle. Light citrus and pine aroma. A very mild and calm start to this beer, with clean Warrior-like hop flavor and some random almost Brown malt textures. A little confused and wandering and definitely light on the hop attack. I appreciate the absence of too much sinamar, a problem with so many Black IPAs. This feels more likely a hoppy stout or English Dark. IPAs nor dark beers have never been my favorite New Glarus pieces and this one keeps that trend the same.

Nice aroma of piney hops and a hint of chocolate. Deep ebony color with a thick tan head that holds up well. First taste....SMOOOOOOTH. Rich, chocolaty malty, hint of coffee, and brown sugar. Then followed by a mellow bitterness that finishes with a blend of sweetness.

Not a big IPA fan but I really enjoyed this. I didn’t feel like I had a mouthful of hops for hours like I do with most IPA’s. Good balance.
