rudolf (1734), Buffalo, New York, USA Oct 22, 2009 Bottle. Pours almost black with a rich tan head. Nose is roasty malt, lightly spicy coffee, cocoa, candied plums, toffee. Flavor is huge roasty malt along with fruity (cherry?) coffee. Rich toffee comes forward and almost dominates the finish, but it is kept in check by roasty coffee & chocolate. chicagodri (1020), Chicago, Illinois, USA Oct 17, 2009 Beer courtesy of a co worker. Pours black. Aroma of roasted malt, coffee, and chocolate. Flavor is slightly sweet, with roasted malt and coffee, but has a little bitterness at the same time. I actually really enjoyed this beer. tedovertu (259), Apple Valley, Minnesota, USA Oct 2, 2009 A extremely thin stout. Decent taste and aroma just extremely watery. The lightest bodied stout I have ever tried. Sweet roasted coffee with some mild hops. Small quickly dissipated head. Maria (6056), Thisted, Denmark Sep 28, 2009 Courtesy of After4ever, thanks Tom! It’s black with a red hue and a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of roasted malt, chocolate, coffee and light rubber. The flavor is slightly sweet with notes of roasted malt, coffee and the finish is slightly citrussy/roasted bitter. It’s not very complex, but considering the ABV, it’s quite full-bodied with a lot of flavor. Beardface (977), Eugene, Oregon, USA Sep 26, 2009 12 oz bottle acquired via trade. Pours a cola brown with a thin white head and minimal lacing. Aroma is hefty on the coffee obviously, but also some chocolate and caramel malt. Flavor is roasted malt, light chocolate and a big coffee burst. Mouthfeel is a little thin, but not too bad. Another solid beer from New Glarus, wish they’d distribute out of state. BrewDad (2363), Olympia, Washington, USA Sep 19, 2009 12oz Bottle – Trade - JJClark

Headbanger (1574), Aurora, Illinois, USA Sep 18, 2009 12oz bottle 9/18/09 (New Glarus Brewing)-Pours a dark brown with w a big tan head. Aroma of roasted malt, chocolate, and slight coffee. Taste of the same but more coffee than the aroma. This light to medium bodied brew is well balanced and quite tasty but a bit thin. arrogantb (695), Denver, Colorado, USA Sep 4, 2009 This stout was dark brown and not black which surprised me. It had a faint "stouty" smell to it but no coffee that I can detect. Taste was also standard stout but no coffee. My friend said he could taste it so maybe my palate is deficient. In any case, this was a good stout but didn’t live up to the label for me.
