COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Hearty and satisfying, our Coffee Stout is the ultimate full-bodied brew. Wisconsin water, roasted malts, and imported hops are the natural ingredients we use to brew this bier. Then cold pressed organic coffee from Just Coffee Co-op is infused into the brew. Expect this bier to pour a deep creamy head over an ebony rich body. Notice the powerful malt bouquet balanced by a spectrum of extravagant flavor. Served at room temperature this Wisconsin Coffee Stout is guaranteed to warm even the coldest heart.

Coffee, yes, a lot, but a bit thin-bodied for my taste. Coffee in the finish, and not a whole lot else. Some malts, roasty. Seems somewhat out of balanced, as the carbonation is a little much for a stout.

Very dark beer with only hints of red around the edges with an attractive brown head. I really didn't get an awful lot of coffee in this beer. It was sweet with some roast bitterness, and was an okay stout, but I expected better.

Now this is a coffee stout. Nice dark color with a creamy tan head. Coffee is predominant throughout, if you do not like coffee, the taste, acidity, or bitterness than stay away from this beer as it has it all and then some. Very thick and tasty, like tasting that fresh roasted smell in the morning and putting it in a bottle. Had with Dogfish's Chicory stout and it blew it out of the water much like Chief Brody did to the shark at the end of Jaws. No contest New Glarus wins.

Normally, I enjoy coffee flavored stouts, but not this one. It was just too unbalanced, too sour even for a sweet stout. Decent aroma though.

Black with brown head that dissipates quickly.Coffee nose. Espresso malt flavor. Poor body.

Black, black, black, black. Thin head. Guess what it smelled like? I would have prefered it to be more heavy in the mouth. One can’t help but compare this to the benchmark coffee stout (DoubleBlack), and it doesn’t quite stand on it’s own. If there had never been the RedHook, then this would do just fine.

UPDATED: MAY 20, 2004 Rerate 5/20/2004: Very dry burnt aroma leads into a semi-sweet and somewhat full body with a pleasant roasty finish. A nice stout, but I don't taste much coffee in it. 12/7/2002: Lots of roasted coffee beans in the aroma. The body is sweet maybe even with some molasses. Fairly full-bodied with a medium bitterness and a smooth finish. A good stout.

UPDATED: SEP 10, 2004 rerate: i can see through this mohogany liquid and notice that it is unfiltered. !>) very light for even a porter in both palate and appearance. the label states this is a full bodied beer...yeah right. beautiful and consistent off-tan foam with tightly packed bubbles. oh this is so fresh! aroma is lightly hopped and roasty with hints of black coffee. mouthfeel is creamy; mild twang with roastiness and coffee flavors coming in the end; finishes very creamy.
