3.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 naivepegasus (307) - USA - MAY 10, 2013
Pours black with a thin amount of tan head. Sweet coffee and chocolate odor. Sweet cappuccino taste that fades into a syrupy aftertaste. Interesting, I thought it’d be a bit darker tasting.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 mrjaxson (200) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - APR 21, 2013
A lighter stout than advertised, yet extremely tasty. Pours to a fluffy head that takes its time to subside. Coffee is there lightly in the aroma and on the dry finish. In between the malts take over for a bit of sweetness. Another solid New Glarus bier.
3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 Hair6a11 (1156) - Illinois, USA - APR 18, 2013
Bottle; Pour is murky brown with a hint of amber ; a fine bubbled khaki head here -modest, retaining poorly, light lacing present here. The nose is roast, coffee, chocolate morsels, but I found it muted. the flavor profile provides a light bodied brew, with a nice balance as is typical, but this is a fairly boring brew from New Glarus, but again, not unexpected. The sweetness shines, modest hop presence here, with more chocolate morsel, roast, very light coffee bean, and a hint of cream.
2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 kilbaner06 (11) - - APR 10, 2013
Tastes more like a porter than a stout. It’s not a terrible beer but nothing fantastic.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 Marheb (1178) - Montréal, Quebec, CANADA - MAR 29, 2013
Couleur rouge sang très sombre avec un bon collet. Beaucoup de sucre en bouche, cerise, cassonade, caramel. Le café peine à sortir du lot, un peu lourd pour sa grosseur.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 14/20 BMMillsy (686) - Florida, USA - MAR 27, 2013
Bottle from trade. Pours deep brown with a one finger kahki head that recedes quickly. Earthy coffe and roasty malt aroma with some hop presence. Flavor is lots of coffee and roasty smokey goodness. Really easy drinking and relatively high carbonation. Dry finish and a bit of bite at the end. Good stuff. A stout you could drink all day, but not sure I would put it in the "Sweet Stout" category like it is here. Closer to a porter than to "sweet."

Picked this puppy up in Madison, Wi. Pours a pitch black with a tan head that recedes to a good size ring. Thick spider web lace strings. Nose is a little coffee malt, but I get mainly licorice and some dark roast chocolate. Tastes like cold sweet creamy coffee. Good show.
3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 illidurit (1638) - Santa Cruz, California, USA - MAR 23, 2013
Bottle shared at the March tasting in Santa Cruz. Pours dark brown with an ecru head. Aroma is rather smokey, flavor is also smokey with some cold coffee notes and a thinnish body. Most tasting participants agreed that this was bizarrely smoke-based. It came across more like a schwarzbier than a stout really. Could this have been mislabeled or infected?

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 radarsock (480) - Massachusetts, USA - MAR 14, 2013
Stfun supplied -- many thanks! Dark brown/blackish pour. Thin off-white head; almost yellowish in color . Huge body. Aromas of black liquorice candy, fudge, kelp, toffee, spelt, vanilla, and medium-roast coffee beans. Nice. Tastes delicately of wet ash, charcoal, coffee malt, mugwort, milk chocolate, russet potatoes, and some earth. Seaweed, yeast, and coffee syrup by swallow. Cool beer.
