A smooth and interesting beer. Not much of a nose or aroma - all the fun is on the back end.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle pours root beer color with thin, quickly dissipated head. Sarsaparilla and chicory on the nose, finishes soft with low bitterness. Overall, okay, just a little under carbonated.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Tasted on 1/3/12 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours clear copper brown with a thin white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is lightly nutty with a hint of coffee and a soapy aroma. The flavor is nutty chocolate malt with some green bitterness and a metallic flavor. The body is medium with average carbonation and an average nutty chocolate finish.

Iím a bit bias on this beer. Iím an absolutely huge fan of new glarus. This beer is a bit nutty but a classic smooth new glarus taste iíve come to appreciate. always a treat when i can drink this.

3.1 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Smells like your standard brown ale. Looks wonderfully brown with a light head on it. Good sweet malt flavor coupled with a slight bitter. Biscuit hits the nose after the swallow. Medium bodied with average carbonation, sits well with me!

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle pours a dark reddish/brown with small beige head that stays as a ring and leaves spots of lacing. Aroma is roasted malts, brown sugar, and hazelnut. Taste is slightly sweet with a slightly nutty finish and almost spicy aftertaste. Body is medium without much carbonation. Mouthfeel is almost creamy. Very satisfying. and it gets better as it warms up a bit.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Really good full bodied dark beer definately nutty, but not overpowering, light aftertaste - best that New Glarus makes IMHO.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
On tap, poured into a sampler glass. Aromatics of sugary, warm baking spices, and fruits come out first, then turn more malty and roasted by mid sample. It pours a clear, oily orange brown with an off-white, foamy head that retains a medium ring with a light web surface, and leaves behind a snowy lace on the glass. Medium sweet and bitter balance out the taste of this beer. Itís smooth, with an almost creamy carbonation, and a medium light body containing notes of roasted nuts. As it warms the palate picks up more caramel. It finishes dry and spicy with a mildly astringent and toasted bread aftertaste that mellows quickly. After an extended period, the aftertaste comes through as a light spiciness.
