100% Wisconsin malt of six different varieties impart the natural toasted color to the bottle conditioned unfiltered ale. Clean hazelnut notes result from these carefully chosen barley malts. Hops from Slovenia, Bavaria and the Pacific Northwest give Fat Squirrel its backbone.

I have tried a number of nutty beers but this one tops them all! If this is on tap at a bar or restaruant, I always ask for it! I love it served real cold (which I typically don’t like) and in a tall glass! Give me more please!

Not really impressed by this beer. Malty with a weird yeast fuzziness. Toast and carbonation. Thin on the tongue. I have to say in general pretty disappointing.

Poured from a 12oz brown bottle into a Newcastle schooner glass (infinitely better beer than Newcastle, by the way), a reddish brown colour with creamy beige foam, lasting with lace. Exquisite aromas of malt, brown bread, fruitcake, earthy/flowery English hops. Dried apricots and cranberries. Flavour was similar, even maltier, nice aromatic toasty complexity (go Victory malt!), not especially roasty, cacao nibs, and mild coffee, more tart stone fruit reminiscent of top-cropped, open-fermented Yorkshire ale yeast esters, great Fuggly balance. Medium body and carbonation, lingering multi-layered aftertaste. Crazy delicious, an especially great example of a great style. Too bad these are only sold in Wisconsin, I could drink it everyday. Thanks Andy!

Bottle from variety pack. Pours a light reddish brown, minimal head. Huge aromas of malt and hazelnuts. Very thin on the palate. Nothing special.

A lighter version of a typical craft brown. Nice mild malts. Not too much mouthfeel. Toffee notes in aroma and flavor.

Bottle. Dark ruby-brown with thick light tan head and substantial lacing. Malt aroma. Light toasted biscuit upfront with caramel notes in the finish. Lighter body of than expected. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a hazy reddish-brown with an average white fizzy head. Very mild nutty malt aroma. Taste was nutty. Not great but a decent, enjoyable beer.

Bottle pours root beer color with thin, quickly dissipated head. Sarsaparilla and chicory on the nose, finishes soft with low bitterness. Overall, okay, just a little under carbonated.

Tasted on 1/3/12 from a capped 12oz bottle. Pours clear copper brown with a thin white head that leaves a thin collar of lace. The nose is lightly nutty with a hint of coffee and a soapy aroma. The flavor is nutty chocolate malt with some green bitterness and a metallic flavor. The body is medium with average carbonation and an average nutty chocolate finish.
