3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 Strykzone (3812) - Wood River, Illinois, USA - JUL 18, 2007Enjoyed a bottle of this at a St. Louis gathering. What a nice beer! It is pretty much pure sweet malt and it is as smooth as a prom queen’s thighs. It is one of those beers that you could sit back and chill with at any time of the year.

Rare brown with a persistent head. Nice hazelnut in the aroma and taste. A very nice brown.

12oz bottle poured into a shaker. Pours a clear nut brown with a half finger off-white head. Aroma of caramel and roasty nuts. Taste is light bitter. Roasty caramel malt with a little dark chocolate. Light bodied with a thin texture. Lively carbonation and a long finish. Overall, not bad. New Glarus does better beers than this one though.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 jhamp9 (752) - Corinth, Texas, USA - MAR 25, 2013
Clear mahogany pour with a nice lasting off white head. Nice lacing. Aroma is hazelnut, toast, faint brown sugar, and some bread. Taste is hazelnut, bread, with a bit of grassy hops. Nutty aftertaste. Mildly sweet overall. Smooth on the palate. Nice beer.
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 camborne (287) - Hopkins, Minnesota, USA - MAR 8, 2013
Somewhat sweet malty aroma. Taste is malt heavy with a touch of good. Kinda sweet with minimal bitterness in the finish. Some dark fruit. Tad watery but nice session beer

Uploading old reviews that were missing comments. Pleasant nut brown with a good malt profile and just enough nuttiness. Very enjoyable.

Uninspiring pour - almost no head that dissipates in seconds. Smell is almost medicinal. Taste is satisfactory but on the bitter side. Would much rather have a Spotted Cow if given the choice.
2.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 boFNjackson (3573) - Portland, Oregon, USA - FEB 21, 2013
Bottle @ a recent bottle share... Poured deep reddish/ruby with little-to-no head. Mouthfeel was flat and dull. This was a muddled mess and even had a faint tartness going on. Malt sweetness with some nutty tones. Bitterness and hop balance were absent too. One of the first New Glarus beers I have had that I wanted to drain pour.

Bottle from trade with Crajun. Pours a clear light brown color with very little head. Aroma is mostly toast and hazelnut with a hint of fruitiness. Taste is decent but watered down. Nice hazelnut and red fruit flavor but I wish there was more body to this.
3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 mrjaxson (199) - .08 Junction, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 12, 2013
Nice nutty and chocolaty aroma lets you know that indeed there are mondo malts to come. By my count, six malts vs. three hops should mean sweetness throughout and it does. The hops certainly balance the mix a bit but the malts do dominate the taste and smooth finish. Yet another delicious beverage from western Wisconsin’s best brewery. (OK, NGBC compares pretty well with the breweries from the other compass points in my home state, too.)
