drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jul 18, 2008 Really nice balance. Unlike the California IPAs that hit you in the face with flora. Instead, well balanced and hoppy. Excellent. GAManiac (1123), Atlanta, Georgia, USA Jul 4, 2008 Bottle. Pours a cloudy dark amber with a small dense off-white head that dissipates quickly leaving a hint of lacing. The smell has a decent floral pine hop kick up front before giving way to the slight caramel sweetness of the malts. The taste has a little more citrus than the aroma in the beginning before giving way to the bready malts with a bit of caramel sweetness. There is a minimal hop bitterness in the finish. The mouthfeel is medium bodied and very creamy with less hoppy bitterness than most IPAs. This is a very subtle and low-key example of an American IPA but very well done. SQNfan (591), Wheaton, Illinois, USA Jun 18, 2008 Dense copper in color with light lacing. Aromas of citric hops and a fair amount of malt for an IPA. The flavors add some chocolate with a creamy midpalate that doesn’t show a lot of hops even on the finish. MartiniFiend (104), Mount Horeb, Wisconsin, USA Jun 16, 2008 Bottle. Pours dark gold almost no head. Nice hop & citrrus aroma. Medium palate. Taste is hops at start with a nice citruc finish. A vrey good IPA. fishingnet (1045), Brandon, Florida, USA Jun 15, 2008 Bottle courtesy Gillard. Pours a clear copper with a one finger lasting off-white head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is full on floral and citrus hops with a hint of sweet malt in the background. Taste is citrusy and slightly grassy with a hint of mint on the finish but it lacks the malt sweetness to balance it all out. Medium mouthfeel with a moderate amount of bitternees. Very good. KAF (441), Coralville, Iowa, USA Jun 15, 2008 Faint pale orange pour with a two finger thick with a dirty light copper head and nice lacing. Flat floral aroma with a touch of citrus note. A chalky finish with some grapefruit and malt. CanIHave4Beers (835), Des Moines, Iowa, USA Jun 10, 2008 Aroma is strong of floral and citrus hops. The beer looks very nice with a fluffy head and a slightly couldy orange color. Very nice bitter & citrusy hop flavors balanced with a bit of carmely malt. Not too hard to drink, but packed with flavor. Glouglouburp (2778), Montreal, Quebec, Canada Jun 9, 2008 In short: A smooth juicy, caramelized and well balanced IPA. Not intense but very well put together.
How: Botte 12oz, probably fresh, consumed two weeks after getting it as a bonus in my too many in-person DLD trades. Forget who to thank for this one but it’s a BIG thanks.
The look: Clear orangey amber body with a small off-white head
In long: A smooth an fluffy body, rather yeasty for he style. Orange peels, citrusy fruits and some grapefruits wrapped in smooth caramel. Medium bitterness level that doesn’t stick around very long. This is not one looking for extreme intense IPAs, this is a well balanced smooth and extremely drinkable IPA. Intensity is not always a quality, my cousin Louis is considered intense…
