Boesky (39), Galesburg, Illinois, USA Nov 21, 2005 Bottle. Pours a nice copper color, with a well laced, if short lived, head. Medium hoppy nose, followed with a middle long on caramel notes. Finishes dry.
I’d like to try this on draught. Roadtrip! kramer (2407), Sunbury, Pennsylvania, USA Nov 18, 2005 12 oz bottle, via trade w/ 1FastSTi. Pours a crystal clear copper under a finger sized fluffy off-white head. Resiny hop aroma, some caramel maltiness, and grapefruit. Flavor is rather one dimensional, bitter enough for an IPA but it lacks much depth. Notes of pine and citrus but lackling overall in malt. Fairly thin in the body. This just needs a little more malt to balance out the hoppiness. Drinkable enough though! Philip (436), Illinois, USA Oct 10, 2005 One of my standby IPAs. I find this eminently refreshing with a pleasant malt backbone and a hop finish that doesn’t try to overwhelm the senses. All the typical citrus and pine notes of a good IPA. Kudos to Mr. Carey yet again. TheEnemy (422), Chicago, USA Oct 5, 2005 12-oz bottle Pours copper orange with a dense medium white head that leaves good lace on the sides. Perfect color for the style. Pleasant Cascade hop aroma: floral, citrucy, a touch piney. Pine takes center stage in the bitter off-dry flavor that is not as well-balanced as I would have hoped. Not overhopped, just not an exceptional flavor balance either of the various hop flavor attributes or of hop vs. malt. Medium dry palate. Shows promise, could be better. MullMan (1080), Bloomfield, New Jersey, USA Sep 21, 2005 mostly clear bright copper-orangey color. tall rocky tan head that lasts, but minimal lacing. aroma is sweet hoppy, perfumy, and some malt too. good carbonation up front, bitterish earthy malt then dryish piney hops, that goes to carmel malt/sweet hop but mouthfeel goes watery. very nice IPA, good break from the IIPAs for once. Thanks to Styles for this one! twindadplus2 (408), Wisconsin, USA Sep 21, 2005 Orange brown color with a decent, lingering head. Huge sweet, flowery hop aroma with a hint of caramel. Flavor of sweet malt and piney, flowery hops. Finish is long, sweet and piney with a thick, sticky mouth feel that stil comes across as refreshing. IPA’s are not my favorite style and I still think is a damn good beer. CharlesDarwin (1824), Point Judith, Rhode Island, USA Sep 17, 2005 Rich cascade aroma. Auburn brown pour, with decent lacy white head. Rich almond and standard IPA hop blend. Almost as balanced and bold as an IIPA> Finish is sweet, yet hoppy in the same tone. joergen (8430), Frederiksberg, Denmark Sep 13, 2005 Bottled.
Clear orange coloured with a solid off white head.
