4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 StewardofGondor (1934) - Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA - JAN 24, 2005Pours darker than expected - a reddish/bronze hue. Fizzy, with little head at the top. Smells very bitter - floral hops jump right out at you. Tastes of pine and grass and fragrant flowers. There’s a honey like sweetness, which contributes to a unique sweet & sour dichotomy. This is one bitter beer, baby, but it’s pretty damn good. Another salute to the folks at New Glarus.

Another great beer from New Glarus, and another great IPA! A classic IPA through and through. This beer needs to be a year round beer!
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Treebs (733) - , Illinois, USA - OCT 16, 2012
12 oz. bottle served in a FFF pint glass.
A: Pours a solid amber color with a frothy and thick two finger off white head forming on the pour. It slowly recedes to a thin film and juicy collar.
S: Resiny and sticky hops are present upfront and there is a nice caramel and bready malt backing that is slightly sweet in nature.
T: The taste is not as fulfilling as the nose is. Mostly malt forward with some pale malts and slight bread roll sweetness. The is followed by a slightly grassy and light resin hop profile with a finish that is the same with a twinge of flower. Unfortunately the finish fades rather fast.
M: The body is surprising light and refreshing with a nice carbonation. The finish isn’t really all there though in terms of lingering taste.
O: This is a light and refreshing IPA, but I wish the flavor profile was a little more hop forward and a bit more vibrant. Still a very solid beer overall.

Bottle from Keyport. Poured a reddish-brown with a nice, hoppy aroma. Flavor is good, fresh hops and is a very solid beer. New Glarus does it again.
2.7 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 11/20 jgb9348 (3970) - Arlington (Pentagon City), Virginia, USA - SEP 3, 2012
Nice rich copper coloured body with a glow of orange and even some peach colours with a thinnish, one centimetre tall tan head. Aroma of bright piney and resinous hops with a bit of malt noticeable and a hint of sweetness from fruits. Medium-bodied; Mildish hop notes with grassy and herbal flavours and a smooth maltiness that makes the beer go down very easily. No alcohol or assertive flavours at all, and almost no bitterness, including none from the hops at all. Overall, a pretty disappointing beer - drank almost as fresh as I could have had it, but without any hop notes and nothing tasting much like an IPA at all. I sampled this twelve ounce bottle purchased from Ridgeview Liqour in Green Bay, Wisconsin on 29-July-2012 for US$1.99 sampled at home in Washington on 03-September-2012.
4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20 joshwoodward (218) - - AUG 23, 2012
This is a fantastic IPA. Great hoppiness, but balanced with a nice body, not over the top in any way.
3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 DavoleBomb (1444) - Pennsylvania, USA - AUG 10, 2012
Poured into a pint glass.
2.5 A: Lightly hazed medium orange color. One finger of frothy/foamy off-white head. Retention is lacking for an IPA and no lacing is left.
4.5 S: This is super malty without being a big, syruppy type DIPA. Tons of caramel and even some toffee and toastiness. Floral and citrusy hops. Quite nice.
3.5 T: The malty complexity is still there, but it lacks depth in the taste. The caramel, toffee, and toastiness are closer to a tease than a focus. Floral and herbal hop flavor with the slightest citrusy tinge. Despite my complaints, it’s not bad.
3.5 M: Lighter medium body. Good moderate carbonation. I wish this had a bit more body and could use some more creaminess as well.
3.5 D: Decent beer that would be awesome if it tasted like it smelled.

Special shout-out to Jacob, a.k.a. “Sud Savant” for this little gem. Sadly, New Glarus is not distributed in Ohio Pours golden amber with an orange hue with a sticky, frothy and thick two finger off-white rocky head. It slowly recedes to a thin film and juicy collar. Loads of carbonation emanating from the bottom of the glass. Really nice looking beer.Resiny and sticky hops are present upfront and there is a nice caramel and bready malt backing that is slightly sweet in nature. Wonderful pine notes. Not overly done. A good amount of sweetness and malt. Good grass with limited citrus. Little acidity present in the nose. Relatively balanced. The taste is not as hop-forward as the nose. Mostly malt with some pale malts and slight bread roll sweetness, followed by a slightly grassy and light resin hop profile with a finish that is the same with a hint of flower touches of citrus zest Finish is short-lived.Typical of New Glarus. The body is light and refreshing with a nice carbonation. The finish isn’t really all there though in terms of lingering taste. The best way I can term this IPA is accessible. Perfect balance hops and slightly toasted malts. Finishes pretty dry. Hop-heads can probably pass on this one.

Not really an IPA guy but I really like this. Almost like a hidden chocolate tone to it. Maybe some prunes or something in the back ground. Not Bitter, but hop flavor all over.
