I Pours light/medium red/brown with a small off white head. Good strong hop flavor, along with a small citrus/pine thing, and an ending "soapiness". Very full on the palate... very tasty... | 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Jul 13, 2005 The aroma is saturated with dry hopped goodness, oozing fresh squeezed grapefruit and perfume floral. The body is less hoppy, but satisfyingly quenching. Caramel malts support well. The bark is bigger than the bite. jah noth (1023), Rochester, New York, USA
| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 18/20 | Sep 6, 2003 This is a mighty tasty IPA. When you pop the top of this one, you immediately notice the piney aspect of this ale. Thick frothy head and lacing throughout. Indica sticky pine flavor with nice malt backbone. IPAs don't get a whole lot better. Very enjoyable. Ty5592 (1015), Lansdale, Pennsylvania, USA

| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Mar 15, 2006 I don’t know what it is about this beer but I swear to god i’ve had something exactly like it. It has a distinctively caramel aroma and flavor. It has a kind of fart aroma that reminds of Hopdevil. That’s it! Up front it’s not that bitter but the finish stays bitter. Another exceptional and unique beer from New Glarus. sersdf (1000), chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jun 26, 2007 i keep trying to compare this in my head to other hoppy IPA’s and APA’s but i can’t find a mold into which to place it. it’s not as strong in the grassy/citrusy/grapefruit direction as most, but it’s still respectable. it finishes too light. i keep going back and forth on this beer. i’m gonna have to defer for now and leave my initial impression up... rerate: this is fucking weird. pours looking like a dark brown opaque barleywine with no head. smells like a barleywine, tastes like a watered-down english barleywine. i didn’t even look at my original rating till just this sentence, but i can see why i had such a hard time placing it in a category. it absolutely smells exactly like the bells 3rd coast old ale, which i’ve had maybe 6 6-packs of. a little less strong though. flavor is similar but way more watered down. i get very faint flavoring hops in the finish, but that’s about it. i have a feeling this must be extremely old because there’s basically no hop character and i don’t know how anybody’d call it an IPA. at least in america. i see it’s got east kent golding hops, which i believe are pretty european. i can maybe buy an english IPA classification. but either way, it’s watery as balls and doesn’t have much going for it except a nicely balanced front end. jimbowood (983), Athens, Georgia, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | Mar 24, 2006 Caramel + grass. The other raters said it all. Good, but not great. Possibly too much grassy hop flavor. More malt and citrus/pine hop flavors would make this an excellent beer,
