Moon Man is a seriously cool cat. Always comfortable in his own skin, he never tries too hard. So cool we named our "no coast" pale ale after him. You hold a session beer with a bright bold blend of five hops that flirt obligingly with the smooth malty backside. Don’t let this one lay around it is brewed to be enjoyed today. Bold and engaging without pretense, because in Wisconsin you do not have to be extreme to be real. Just be.

Sample at a tasting at IlliniSmitty’s house. Aroma was of sweet tangerines, color was that of a light pale lager. flavor was also of a pale lager, but slightly sweet, more juice-sweet than corn sweet. Too light for my blood.

Served at the tap room at the New Glarus brewery. Pours a very clean yellow, low carbonation, deep white head on top. Nose has a very, very fresh hops nose, similar to opening up a bag of hop pellets. The hops impart a smooth pine nose mostly with some mild flowery hints late. Flavor starts with a mild piney presence which moves into a light citrus, earthiness with a light toasty malt presence late but very light. Body is almost watery from the high hops presence. Overall a fantastically smelling beer, good flavor and just okay mouthfeel. Very light body kinda takes away a little bit from the beer but at 5% alcohol a very flavorful light brew.

12 oz bottle. Clear yellow orange with a white head. Nose is pink grapefruit and toffee; simple but so enticing. A long pull is perfectly quenching with a crisp bite and lively carb. Taste is soft grapefruit, woody pine, ginger and dough. I’d put this on my summer rotation if it were locally available.

large off white head, clear pale yellow/orange color. Nose is great, floral, vanilla. taste is very light with a slow easy bitter end. Could use more malts for balance. Not too impressed.

Bottle, courtesy of arminjewell. Pours an amazingly vibrant yellow-gold with a white, large-grained head. Nose is very herbal/resiny -- rosemary, mint, thyme, and sage all come into play. Lots of citrus on the tongue; grapefruit and more herbs, along with malt. Very rich and luxurious mouthfeel for a PA. I am beginning to wonder if New Glarus makes anything that isn’t terrific.

Pours brilliant gold with a inch thick creamy head on it, leaving huge amounts of thick lacing in my glass. Aroma is malty sweet with hints of honey, and floral hops. Body is medium. Flavor is crisp, smooth malt with notes of honey, with a sweet smooth finish. Excellent!

Bottle. [thanks, Lau]
Pours light hazy yellow golden with a medium, creamy, white head. Aroma has lovely peach, citric, pine, resin and grapefruit. A great hops aroma. Lowish aroma, a bit thin and watery. Flavour is a bit resiny sweet, light grapefruit and peach bitterness and mild malty backbone. So sad that the flavour is so limited compared to the very lovely aroma. Still a beer I would drink if offered :o)

A - Pours a rich and clear golden orange color with a finger-plus of frothy white head. The head fades slowly down to spotty layer with nice lacing left behind on the glass. S - Lots of citrus and grassy hops in the aroma. Some biscuit/bread malts are also there beneath the hop aroma. T - Starts off with some sweet malt and lemon flavor. The citrus hop comes in right after with some mild bitterness. Through the middle, some grassy hops come through with some floral hops and other floral flavors. The finish adds a bit of spices alongside and the flavor lingers just a touch. M - Medium bodied and moderate carbonation. Super clean and crisp. Fairly light without feeling watery and empty. The finish is unbelievably clean and just slightly dry. D - Super drinkable. The flavors here are nice and balanced and far from empty, but the whole thing feels crisp and super refreshing. The finish is really nice.

12oz Bottle thanks to Sam. Pours out golden in color topped with a white head. Aroma was of citrus and pine hops along with a light sweet malt. Taste was more of the hop mix along with a little caramel sweetness and some light bread malts.
