Commercial Description:
Since 1516 Brewers have led the purity revolution. They mandated only four natural ingredients be used to brew beer. This Reinheistgebot law was the first ever food purity regulation and New Glarus Brewmaster Dan Carey has consistently respected our palates by employing yeast, water, barley and hops to explore a wide spectrum of flavor. Today Dan pushes the purity envelope by using Organic Hallertau Hops from Germany with Wisconsin organically malted barley to create a complex and assertively hoppy golden ale. This beer is even natrually carbonated, 100% bottle fermented means you can expect a flavor celebration to dance cleanly across your palate. Raise your glass and toast to Wisconsin’s common sense Revolution.

Honey colored with a small white head that ends up blotchy and thin. More malt in the aroma than hop. A very unusual APA. Honey flavor with caramel malt and pine hop. Some candy sugar and spice show up late. Feel is thin but with some zest and moderate bitterness. Very drinkable.

Had this on brewery tour with cmblado. Is a very different but pleasing american pale ale. From the orange color to the balanced malt/ hoppiness, you will enjoy this one. Finishes well on a hot summer day.

This beer pours an orangy-golden color with a billowy white head. Great retention and lacing clings to the glass. The aroma is rather weak with some hop bitterness surrounded by some malt. The palate mouthfeel is a nice smooth carbonation. Not real hefty, but not unnoticeable. The flavor is a nicely balanced, marginally hopped pale ale. Don’t expect a dale’s or alpha king here. NG isn’t going for that. This sits nicely in an economical Reinheistgebot style of pale ale.

Pours a hazy cooper color with a light white head mostly dissapating. Malt and citrus aroma. Very creamy texture and mouthfeel. Nice malt flavor dominates with a hint of caramel. Slightly dry aftertaste, this beer is full bodied, rich and mellow. A natural choice to pair with nuts, popcorn or summer picnic food.

at its very best, this beer is only average. tastes of soaking wet cereal grain and hops are hiding under the table like a 60s atomic bomb drill. one of the worst things about this beer is that people will now think that organic ingredients will only lead to a dull average beer. this beer attacks my palate like a rusty pocket knife from the garage trying to cut a ripened tomato. when i think of great or even good american pales, i think of a well hopped or even overly hopped beer... and i think of balance. i think of a focused aroma and i think of challenge to my palate. when i think of organic revolution, i think of none of these things. this beer makes me sad.

Just fine. Were it not for their ablity to brew great beers, I would probably be less forgiving. I’m not sure this is the APA that they are capible of.

served on draft at the glarner stube. dark straw color with malt and hops in the nose. Not sure why this is a winter pale ale? hops are earthy with sweetness from the malt that finishes tart. slight caramel notes. not my favorite.
