Commercial Description:
Since 1516 Brewers have led the purity revolution. They mandated only four natural ingredients be used to brew beer. This Reinheistgebot law was the first ever food purity regulation and New Glarus Brewmaster Dan Carey has consistently respected our palates by employing yeast, water, barley and hops to explore a wide spectrum of flavor. Today Dan pushes the purity envelope by using Organic Hallertau Hops from Germany with Wisconsin organically malted barley to create a complex and assertively hoppy golden ale. This beer is even natrually carbonated, 100% bottle fermented means you can expect a flavor celebration to dance cleanly across your palate. Raise your glass and toast to Wisconsin’s common sense Revolution.

From bottle courtesy of Dave F. Light bitter character in the nose, mild resin with little citrus or grassy character. Mild dusty grain and a bit of caramel sweetness. Medium amber body, very hazy, with thin off-white head. Medium bodied with high carbonation and light chalky finish. Starts with light acidity, mild bitter character and not much sweet character. Bit of grain and light caramel. Carbonic acidity with chalky finish and light astringent bitter.

Bottle... Mostly clear, golden ale with a small, fizzy, white head that dissipates in a flash. The nose offers lots of toffee and biscuit malts with lesser notes of perspiration and spicy hops. Medium to full-bodied with a skim-milk mouthfeel and ticklish carbonation. Plenty of toffee sweetness overpowers the initial, snappy hop bite. Finishes honey-sweet.

Slightly hazy amber color with a very thin head. Light aroma of grain and spicy citrus. Flavor is slightly sweet up front with a sour grain and citrus bitterness. A bit of a disappointment for the style but still a good beer. Plus my pet rats love it so it must be good, because those little guys know good beer.

12 oz bottle, via . Pours a dark gold body, clear, under a smallish fizzy off-white head that left some fairly heavy lacing. The nose is a little vegetal in nature, with crackery pale malt and maybe a touch of hops. The flavor is light with a certain pale, slightly doughy, maltiness and a little grassy hops on the finish. Mouthfeel is light bodied and airy, though it does have a certain doughy stickiness late in the finish. Overall, this was one of my least favorite from New Glarus, but it was pretty decent when compared to the realm of organic beers.

Bottle, big thanks to Hopdog. Pours a cloudy light yellow with a small white head. The aroma is fairly juicy and citrusy with a bit of dough and corn. Uh, this is not an American Pale Ale. This smells more like a pilsener and now that I read the commercial description, I see that German Hallertau is used. I take a sip. It’s got a pretty assertive mouthfeel considering the flavor profile. Paper, wooden hops highlighted by little nips of citrus hit my palate. It’s slightly dry with minimal suggestions of corn and more assertive cereal flavor. Sweetness comes out in a bready, doughy fashion, though the finish is a bit metallic. No real sign of pale malt in the flavor and no American hop flavor at all. APA is a misnomer. That aside, I still wasn’t too crazy about this one. It’s pretty decent on a summer day, I suppose.

Bottle - Pours a cloudy amber with a small white head. The smell is the best part of this beer -- sweet and fruity, with honey, grapes, and wheat. The taste is kind of weird -- the first couple sips were terrible, it mellowed out in the middle, and I poured the end of the beer into my wife’s glass and moved on to something else. It tastes pretty smooth, with a mild malt and grain flavor, but there’s really not much else. Stale-tasting hops dominate the finish, and kind of weight the beer down with blahness. It’s medium-bodied, but a little too much carbonation dominates. I wanted to try it just because it’s New Glarus, but pretty mediocre overall.

Bottle from shigadeyo. Poured clear amber with an average frothy white head that mostly lasted and produced good lacing. Light hoppy citrus aroma. Light to medium body. Medium hoppy sweet flavor with a medium bittersweet finish of short duration. My expectations where not met.

Pours a cloudy copper color, with medium sized off white head. Aroma is lightly hoppy, some grainy-ness. Fairly bland, not much going on but some light hoppyness. Pretty boring.
