4.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 19/20
Very red hue in the color with a thin white head. Smells like cherries and chardonnay. One of the best beers I’ve ever smelled. Taste is very tart with raspberry and cherry followed by funky brett and oak. AWESOME.

From notes. First reviewed 12/14/2011. Poured from a 500 mL bottle into a snifter. Thanks to Dunt for bringing this over.
My pour is an amber brown color with a transparent edge. A soft eggshell head slowly fades to a few islands and a collar around the edge.
Sweet bourbon, bready malt, and tart cherries create a simple and pleasant nose.
The flavor starts with a dark cherry sweetness. Next comes vanilla, oak, and sweet bourbon, and then the flavor goes tart. Cherry and a bit of lemon zest to close out.
Slightly grainy, tart and salivating, smooth and creamy carbonation, and a light to medium body.
I enjoyed this overall, partly because I think I like sweet bourbon barrel aged beers.

500ml bottle, made 1/18/10 and bottled 8/6/10 - can’t remember who from though. Unfortunately it dropped onto my favourite duvel collectors glass and broke both the glass and emptied the majority of the bottle. Also cut my thumb...boo hoo. O well. Dark amber with a tan head. Light vanilla, bourbon, oak, cherry, bit lactic, quite mellow. Low carbonation, moderate body, hint of sweetness but more lactic and vinegar, bit thin on the finish although a very nice vanilla, cherry and gueze like finish.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle at a recent tasting... Poured dark, murky, brownish-burgundy with an off-white head. Tart acidity with clean cherry flavor. Reminded me of maraschino charries. Oak, alcohol heat that was pleasant and balanced by the cutting sourness.

500 ml thanks to ogglethorp. Big sour cherry nose and taste. Bourbon and some dash of vanilla. Oak adds tons of flavor, really transforms the cherry.

I brought this one to our recent gueuze tasting. Served alongside the gueuze.
A - Pours reddish brown with a nice one finger tall white head leaving slight streaks of lace down the glass.
S - Smells like a fresh baked cherry pie initially. Once it dies down a bit you get hints of vanilla, warm bourbon, brown sugar and a touch of chocolaty sweetness.
T - Starts off with quite a bit of sour maraschino cherries quickly giving way to hints of vanilla, brown sugar, caramel malt and some warming bourbon. The tartness dies down and the sweetness intensifies as it warms up. Finish is pretty sweet, lingering for some time after consumption.
M - Medium body and flavor with moderate carbonation. Smooth, slightly sweet feel with a touch of warm bourbon coming through as it warms up.
O - I really enjoyed this one. The fruit matched very well with the warm bourbon. It had all the right flavors to keep me interested and it was very easy to drink. Awesome stuff.

Draft at Malt House. Cherry red, some caramel brown. Patchy off-white head, semi oily. The bourbon and cherry meld together quite well. Sour and vinous, the barrel creates a lot of depth. Quite excelllent. Some creamy, oaky bourbon vanilla tones.

Bottle via kbutler1, Thanks again! Shared on Christmas morning 2011. Pours a dark amber with minimal head. Aroma is bourbon sour with a bit of cherry. Taste is of light bourbon with some cherry and sour. V009 is more extreme but this is so incredible. Great beer.

Bottle. Thanks to Deyholla for this one. It pours an amber reddish color with a small disappearing off white head. The aroma is rich with cherries, light leather, and hints of wood, alcohol, caramel and vanilla. The flavor is big on cherries, almost like cough syrup. There’s also some wood, nuts and bourbon alcohol in the finish. Only mild hints of toasty, leathery funk. The lightness of this beer makes the bourbon flavors a bit harsh. Overall, it was okay but I have yet to have a bourbon aged sour that works really well.
