4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
500ml bottle from a forgotten trader - thanks, mystery man! It cannot be bad if it’s New Glarus and there’s wood and cherries involved. And sure enough, this one was a delight. Deep dark red pour, translucent for the most and topped by a thin sheet of bubbles. Nose initially gives off meat and bourbon, interestingly enough, but soon includes overripe cherry skins, wood, and candy. Nice silky body, like Belgian Red, and the flavors are lovely, with booze, wood, and fruit blending together in ways that recall a tweaked Enigma.

3.8 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
500mL bottle. Poured a lovely shade of clear reddish-amber with a little bit of dense off-white head on top. The aroma picked up sweet and sour cherries upfront, with funky lemon rind, some footy notes, and old oak barrels accenting.. totally decadent! The flavor found a bit sweeter cherries with complementary sour zest and metallic bourbon around.. some funky and earthy accents.. finished with some residual fruity sugar.. touches of oxidation on the back.. overall tasty, but not what I was hoping after the nose. Medium-bodied with low-moderate carbonation on the palate.. OK feel and flow, but a little too grainy. Overall a solid brew.

4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle courtesy of thickfreakness! Pours a reddish orange color with a medium well retained head and some lace. The aroma is woody, more like fresh cut wood than a barrel. Some mild whiskey shows through but farm more cherries and nuttiness dominate the aroma here. The flavor is sour, not over the top but certainly quite sour and tart. Loads of sour cherry flavor are all over this beer but it remains dry. This seems like a funked out version of Belgian Red, as such it rules.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
clear pale coppery amber with a short lived off white-ish beige head.
it smells and tastes like cherry candies, vanilla, banana, cinnamon, grain and wet wood. there is a lactic-type tartness on the finish but it isn’t sour.
lively carbonation makes it go down easy.7/3/7/4/15

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
500 ml bottle. Clearish amber brown with spotty froth. Nose is bubblegum, cherry, bourbon and vanilla. Medium light with a soft sparkle. Taste is slightly tart cherry and sweet bourbon with vanilla, hay and hints of nutmeg. A touch sour with spice and mild funk. I didn’t think this would work but comes together beautifully.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Mostly cherry, wet bourbon wood, vanilla, and some tart lactic qualities. Pours reddish golden copper, thin quickly disipating head. The flavors has a good amount of cherries, bourbon essence, vanilla, and wet oak. Soft sourness from the lactic shows up in the finish and cleans it out a little. Nicely carbonated, lingering soft lactic cherry notes. Pretty solid.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Sampled during Where the Wild Beers Are 2010 in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Pours a semi-clear copper colored brew with a thin beige head that quickly dissipates. Aroma of golden grain malt, some cherry, cherry wood, vanilla and bourbon. Taste is medium bodied, a touch tart fruit with some mild bourbon and vanilla. Finish continues the tart character, light coconut, vanilla and cherries. Love the tart finish and would like to see this one again.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottled, thanks pantanap! Hazy orange brown. Peculiar aroma where oak and bourbon meets cherries. Sweet with lots of cherries, only slight oaky tartness. Low bitterness. Well made, but the combination of bourbon and cherries doesn’t seem to be optimal.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Cheers to JCB for the share. Damn, this was good. Nose is vanilla, wood, dark cherries, and bourbon. Not as intense or bourbony as expected, and for the better. Mild balsamic notes and tartness. Quite good.

thanks hbmason for sharing-12oz bottle-bottled 8/6/10 Batch 5661-pours a light tan head and copper color. Aroma is bourbon, medium malt-caramel, some tart fruit. Taste is tart/sweet cherry, medium malt-caramel, hint of bourbon in background, some spice hops. Good effervescence. Easy. If they brewed more than 5 bbls I’d drink this all day.
