Ale infused with a large dose of sour cherries. Fermented in an Oak Vat using a blend of Ale Yeast and Lactobacillus. Then aged in freshly dumped bourbon barrels. Strongly Sour with intense cherry overtones married to oak and bourbon character.

Thanks to fogdog for bringing this to the So Long Sea Bass Tasting. Pours orange-yellow with an off-white head. Nose is bourbon, cherry, vanilla, sugar, and Belgian Red. I see in the description that there are bugs in here. There certainly are none that come through. The barrel flavor makes this taste like Barrel Aged Belgian Red. Medium-bodied and an excellent blend of barrel and fruit beer. Kudos to New Glarus for keeping the alcohol content so low. Please bottle this again and make it a seasonal! This seems like a fine session beer to keep for dessert.

Bottle @ Seabass going away party, Jan15th ’11. Courtesy of Fogdog. New Glarus s’est encore surpassé.

Hazy amber color pour with a foamy head. Aroma of tart cherries, bourbon, spice, vanilla and oak. Flavor is tart, but not seriously sour, with cherries, bourbon and vanilla. Like a bourbon cherry pie. Seriously delicious!

Bourbon aroma, but not especially intense. Cherry in the flavor, lightly sour. The cherry is complimented by the bourbon, and not overpowered by it. Very well balanced. Where the Wild Beers Are, 2010.

Bottle shared by LtDan (thanks!) (bottled on 8.6.10). Pours with a clear (appears to not be bottle conditioned) copper body and a tan head. Good lacing. Aroma of cherry pie, wet dog, oak, cinnamon, pie crust and vanilla. Flavors of tart cherries, pie and graham cracker, biscuity, wet blanket, lactic sourness. Lively bubbles with a somewhat sweet finish.

Appearance: Pours a dark clear amber with a creamy frothy white head.

Aroma: Big bourbon and barrel notes, dates, cherry pie filling.

Taste: Sweet caramel, oak barrel, white chocolate, cherry pie filling.

Mouthfeel: Prickly carb, syrupy.

Overall: Really great. Love the bourbon added to what would be an amazing beer on its own.

Tepid orange-red, thin white head. Nose of Heavy leafy bourbon and vanilla with hints of sweet cherries, tons of vanilla. Flavor is ultra sweet, heavy vanilla, lightly sour fruit, stinging, which contrasts sweetness, also bit of tartness. Very woody nose. Palate a bit slick with fruit and butter.
