Commercial Description:
The voluminous raspberry bouquet will greet you long before your lips touch your glass. Serve this Wisconsin framboise very cold in a champagne flute. Then hold your glass to a light and enjoy the jewel-like sparkle of a very special ale. Oregon proudly shares their harvest of mouth-watering berries, which we ferment spontaneously in large oak vats. Then we employ Wisconsin farmed wheat and year old Hallertau hops to round out this extravaganza of flavor.

Bottle. Thanks to Rciesla for sharing. Great beer with a nice aroma and full flavor. Was interesting when mixed with a small amount of black chocolate stout.

On draft at Sugar Maple. Pours a hazy dark red with reddish head. Aroma is tart raspberry possibly with some other sweet fruits. Flavor is ultra-sweet raspberry upfront and finishes very tart. The sourness lasts quite a bit after swallowing. This is one amazing fruit beer. I bought a couple bottles to share at a wedding this past weekend, and got rave reviews from both beer drinkers and non. I got several "This is beer?" statements from people. Thanks for having this on tap Sugar Maple.

Bottle thanks to Awiseman01. Pours a bubbling raspberry red with a big but disappearing raspberry stained head. Raspberry donut filling, fresh raspberry, slight vinegar, oak notes, very sweet with a big tartness on top. Great beer in small doses.

So I just moved from WI, and I probably took New Glarus for granted. I had a mini-panic attack when I realized that I hadn’t rated this beer before I moved; thanks to Flyer for giving me a second chance at this beer. I’ve had the Belgian Red a few times, and found the quality to be rather hit and miss. Sometimes I’ve liked it, sometimes not so much. Not sure if this beer has the same consistency issues, but this bottle was terrific. Color was a dark blood-red color with some light white effervescence. Aroma was light and fruity, but more tart than sweet. Flavor was sweet enough to be quite palatable, but again more tart than not. This tart seemed somehow more true to the fruit than an overly sweet Lindeman’s frambose ever could be. Reminded me of a Cantillon frambose. Flavor was quite good. Mouthfeel was fairly dry, like a good red wine, but without some of the drying astringency. I’ve not been a fan of New Glarus beers, living in WI gave me the pragmatism to be critical at times rather than to fawn. But this beer is quite good and I’d highly recommend.

Bottle. Poured a a deep reddish color with a thn off-white head. Nose is dominated by raspberries. Flavor is also dominated by tart raspberry, very sweet but not cloying. Alcohol is not noticeable. Very much like lightly carbonated raspberry juice. Great flavor.

Bottle - Looks and smells wonderful, with a deep rose pour, a fizzy head, and real raspberries on the nose. There’s definitely cherries in there too -- sweet and rich. Taste is the same -- raspberries, cherries, and a little woody, oaky flavor. The finish is tart and a little dry. Just a touch of hops and spice on the end. It’s smooth and creamy on the mouth, but the carbonation bites a bit. While it’s a little syrupy and heavy, it never seems cloying to me. I was worried about it being too sweet and cloying, but it’s restrained enough that it’s like drinking liquid dessert without coating your mouth for the next two hours.

Sour. Frutity. A desert beer that I know not to do by myself - as I have done with others. Sweet. Syrupy. Excellent.
