This dark ale is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this Stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious rich head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time-honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax -- road construction season will soon return.

One of the better sweet stouts around. I was quite surprised with this offering from New Glarus, as some of their beers are hit or miss. Very rich and sweet.

12oz bottle. Pours very dark brown/mahogany almost black, stiff tan head that looks like crap midwest road slush... but in a tasty beery way. roasted tastiness.

2/14/15 - Bottle - Smooth, clean pour, very smooth to drink. Taste and strength light but enjoyed while eating. Liked the hint of coffee. Never had an Oatmeal Stout before, but after trying this offering, I will seek out future Oatmeal Stouts and offerings from New Glarus - another reason to leave Illinois and head to Wisconsin!

Bottle. Poured opaque dark brown with white head that dissipated. A little underwhelming and thin for a stout. Burnt or smoked dark cocoa flavor, but not as velvety or smooth as expected. New Glarus should tweak this in my opinion!

These guys dont make a lot of mistakes. A really nice stout. Pours a chestnut brown with creamy off white head. Aromas are nice sweet milk chocolate with coffee and red berry notes. Nice dry finish. Coffee and bitter chocolate flavors. Good stuff.

Nice aroma of sweet and dark chocolate, raisin, and hints of vanilla. Nice ebony color with a thick tan head. Sweet roasted malt dominates initially. More faint in flavor than aroma. Bitter chocolate next, and finishes with a nice balance of sweet and bitter, and with some dryness. Mouth feel is a bit watery. O.k.
