This dark ale is a hearty and satisfying reward for those of us who embrace the frozen tundra. Uncut oatmeal fresh from Chilton, Wisconsin gives this Stout a "sink into it" smoothness that slides you into its depth. Handcrafted English Chocolate malt and Wisconsin Victory malt combine to balance this robust ale. Expect this ale to pour a luxurious rich head over a rich black ruby body. The powerful malt bouquet will greet you as you tip this silky smoothness from your glass. Our Oatmeal Stout is handcrafted in the time-honored traditions. Serve just above room temperature and relax -- road construction season will soon return.

New Glarus Road Slush has a thick, beige head, that, unfortunately, dies away rather quickly and leaves little lacing. The aroma is of sweetness, brown bread, mild chocolate and coffee, and oats. Taste is the same, with an acidic char and bitterness, which seems to come more from the char rather than from any hop bittering. Mouthfeel is medium to heavy, and New Glarus Road Slush finishes wet, but with an underlying powdery aspect.

Bottle. Clear mahogany with large tan head. Aroma of chocolate and roasted malt. Medium creamy body, roasted malt, chocolate, some mineral notes, malty breadyness, and a bitter malt finish.

Bottle: Nearly black, with a creamy tan head. Nutty, chocolate aroma. Creamy....oatmeal, chocolate and caramel malts, nutty flavor. More along porter-lines, but quite tasty.

This is a brown beer and I might call it a porter rather than a stout, not that that is really an issue. Itís moderately roasty and relatively mild but pretty full bodied w/ mild carbonation. It finishes clean w/ just a little bit of bitterness. Not really a notable beer but tasty enough.

12 oz.. bottle pours a dark brown with small quickly vanishing beige head that leaves good lacing. Aroma is primarily roasted malts, with hints of oatmeal, nuts, and chocolate. Taste is on the sweet side with a drier finish. Body is light to medium with a sliky smooth mouthfeel and not too much carbonation. This one reminded me more of a brown ale than a stout, but did not disappoint either.

Poured a very dark brown with a moderate beige head that faded to a nice lacing. Aroma was of coffee, roasted malts and a ever-so light fruitiness. Taste was predominately of roasted malts with coffee and dark chocolate overtones. Finish had a moderate hop bitterness. Palate was good. Overall, a nice sweet stout from the folks @ New Glarus.
