Happy Accident Fruit Ale Severe Drought, we shared the farmerís horror as Wisconsinís cherry crop failed! Dan bought what cherries he could. The apple crop fared better. Then joy! A grand Wisconsin cranberry harvest. What will Dan brew with Apples, Cranberries and Cherries? Oh my! You hold the happy accident of Wisconsinís favorite fruit aged in oak with an almost magical wild fermentation. Serendipity is a wondrous celebration that sparkles your senses and dances across your palate. A kaleidoscope of flavors discovered by accident in a sour ale! Cheers to the unexpected. Vielen Dank!

Poured from bottle into fluted glass. Deep amber color with bubbly white head. Smells like apple cider and champagne. Tastes like apples and wine, with a tiny bit of malt evident, as well. Pretty sweet, not exceptionally tart. Feel is bubbly from the carbonation. Lighter body. Overall: pretty tasty. Barely resembles beer, much more like a cider, but without the dryness. A little tart, but not vinegary like a typical sour.

Dan shared his bottle the other day. Poured a beautiful deep red mahogany with almost no head in a snifter. The aromas...oh my. Serious lush fruits including the cherries, cranberries, pears, apples, and plums. It reminded me of grandma Coilas berry pies. I could even get the bready, biscuity pie crust. The taste was there with the aromas in complexity of the various fruits. I think the only drawback is thatit was really sweet. But at the same time there was a nice tartness to chase the ending. Medium body for a sour/fruit but oh so good.

I donít have lots of experience with fruit beers. I really enjoyed this, helped Iím sure by the fact that I love cherries and cranberries. Fruity as youíd expect, and tart as youíd expect. A bit too carbonated for my tastes, but still, this was a great beer.

Hazy purple maroon in color... Aroma of apple, cranberry, cherry fruit candy... Almost medicinal aroma... Flavor is moderately tart, fruits are all noticeable, cherry, cranberry, apple, finish is wild fermented cheese, slightly spicy on the palate... Exciting idea, enjoyable ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Wonderous fruit and sour fruit aroma, cherry cranbeery and slight green apple. Flaqvor is perfect tartness and sourness with the fruits letting you know they are purely evident. Sparkling everywhere from aroma flavor and mouthfeel. A+++++

Bottle from the mighty Todd! It had been a while since I had anything from New Glarus, so having the pleasure of trying 3-4 new ones is quite a treat and this one is no exception. Tart fruit skin, light funk, stewed berries, pie crust, ethereal wood dance around a juicy, lively carbonated body... not to the extent of say cider... but there is a pleasant bite to it. Tart cranberry with spicy apple dances around in the front... nice plays between sweet, spicy, earthy and tart... very pleasing bready/tart/spicy finish. Being a big fan of both the Cran-bic and the Enigma, this is a very exciting beer for me to drink as I find elements of both here, perhaps a bit of the Belgian Red as well. If only it could exist all the time and outside of WI, but then again I think the last thing any NG fan would want if for them to be spread too thin and sacrifice their high quality/nuance. Top notch and another great example of what balance can bring.

750 ml purchased at New Glarus, and served with rhubarb crisp. Pours a beautiful clear dark fruit color that shifts with lighting. Cherry red, dark orange, slight crimson, covered in a lasting off white head that fades to moderate lacing. Aroma is sweet and inviting: cranberries, apples and cherry complexity. Flavor is same with an intense balanced sweetness that matches with the rhubarb crisp perfectly. Another great New Glarus fruit beer.

Bottle from unknown at de Garde tasting. Pours a reddish orange, little to no head. Aroma very fruity, some mulling spices. Body medium-tart, lots of spice, lingering tartness. Yikes, spice lovely.

Smells like apple cider. Sharp soda-like carbonation that is semi-foamy. Taste is pretty complex. I get apple cider up front, cranberries, and cherry (no surprises with those three). Aftertaste is about 10 seconds and you sometimes get a slight bit of throat warmth. This tastes like a better, more complex version of the Apple Ale.
