Happy Accident Fruit Ale Severe Drought, we shared the farmer’s horror as Wisconsin’s cherry crop failed! Dan bought what cherries he could. The apple crop fared better. Then joy! A grand Wisconsin cranberry harvest. What will Dan brew with Apples, Cranberries and Cherries? Oh my! You hold the happy accident of Wisconsin’s favorite fruit aged in oak with an almost magical wild fermentation. Serendipity is a wondrous celebration that sparkles your senses and dances across your palate. A kaleidoscope of flavors discovered by accident in a sour ale! Cheers to the unexpected. Vielen Dank!

Bottled. Big tart cherry, apples, jammy fruit, cranberries in the nose, sorbet. Enormous and luscious fruits. Cloudy maroon color. Sweet, fruity, jammy flavor, nicely tangy and tart. good effervescence. Just a bit syrupy. Not all that beery, but wow, this is delicious.

750 mL bottle supplied by Stine - many thanks! Consumed with a whole bunch of relatives who just had to talk about television shows involving eyeglass-clad wallflowers. Paired well with Thanksgiving platters. To red wine glass, it pours a rusted red-tinted autumnal brown with which a few bubbles were shown on top. Looks like cognac mixed with seltzer. Aromas of caramel apples, cranberry sauce, apricot fruit leather, poppy seeds, raisins, sweet potato purèe, day-old bread, elderberries, sawdust, fermented cabbage, Concord grapes, stale blueberry jam, lactose, minerals, rose water, and American ale yeast. Tastes the same with the addition of cotton/denim jeans, wine lees, white tea, and sweat. Chewy and swishable - a juice punch basically. I could easily drink three more of these and feel fine. What a fantastic accident!

Deep mahogany an ruby color, light beige head. Apple, cherry, pear, cranberry, and a little muskiness. A lively and refreshing fruit sweetness throughout. Light bodied and basically like sparking fruit juice.

750ml bottle pours a brown color with a bit of frothy head. Nice sweet fruit flavors with the cherry, cranberry and apple noticeable at different times through the taste.

Bottle from Dresden, thanks man! Dark reddish brown pour, muddy all the way through, with light white head. Aroma is cherries, apple, and lots of sweetness. Taste is tart fruity sweetness up front, followed by some apple, finishes sweet. This is delicious.

Bottle. Clear dark brick red with a short off-white head. Fruity aroma is artificial in the way of Jolly Rancher, Kool-Aid powder and Fruit Roll Ups. Cherries are evident, apples are not, cranberries are a maybe... watermelon jolly rancher is closer. Medium body, semi-sweet, strong acidity, about what you expect if you know Belgian Red and Raspberry Tart. Gelatin filmy / syrupy terrible mouth feel, it’s basically fruit syrup filling in those kwik-e-mart pastry pies. The acid and sugar play is nice but the fruit expression is pretty terrible.

Pour is a hazy reddish copper with a light tan bubbly head. Nose is strong red apple, lots of cherry, and a faint touch of cranberry. Taste has a good bit of red Apple, moderate cherries, like cranberries, and a moderate touch of sourness. Light body, strong carb, dry finish. Fruits are extremely bright and really play well together.

Bottle at Jester King Zwanze Day. Amber pour with a white head. The aroma is full of huge cherry notes, the kind of fresh fruit you only get from New Glarus fruit beers. The flavor is more of the same. I get some gigantic cherry as well as some light tartness, a hint of brown sugar and some toffee. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation. New Glares has done it again.
