4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
After staring me in the eye for quite some time down in the cellar, finally a time to crack one open (for all of the praise I give to NG for their wonderful brews, I REALLY want them to put the fruit beers in 12 oz bottles...seriously, I donít need .75L of this stuff at a time!) Anyways, I digress...pours a ruddy brownish red - minimal head. Aroma is strong and inviting...candied fruit, hint of sourness...yum! I would say the flavor is cranberry forward, but the apples and cherries round things out nicely...just a great meld of tartness abounds...generally tart/sour, hint of sweet malt in the background to keep things balanced, and no hint of cloying (not that I expected any...) Palate is actually quite easy drinking for the type of beer, and although it was great to share at a party, I could probably kill half a bottle on my own quite easily (not so with the B Red). I expected a homer, and a round tripper is what I got...

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Poured from the bottle. Color is an orange amber with good clarity. a nice thin white head, carbonation is fine.aroma is cherry and cranberry. Sourness is very minor, more of just a slight tartness. Flavor is sour apple and chaeeries, with the cranberry tartness coming in on end, does taste like a fruit cider. this is very good and very drinkable. Highly recommended.

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottled. Pours a two-toned dark red with orange highlights. Head is initially rather large, bright white, but is mostly diminishing. Lots of fine bubbles streaming throughout. Cherry is still the most dominant fruit in the aroma though the cranberries are noticeable at the tail end amongst the tart and lightly sour funk. Cherries and juicy apple cider up front in the flavor, which is moderately-high in sweetness and subdued in its sourness, finishing with some apple pie baking spices, white bread, tart cranberry juice. Dan hits another fruit beer out the ballpark. This is a beer truly for all seasons - refreshing enough for spring and summer, tarty apple cider notes bring to mind autumn, subtle spiciness would lend itself well to being mulled in the winter.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle thanks to Randall. Clear reddish copper pour with a white head. Big cherry aromas. Wow, effervescent with tingly cherry, sour apple, and bitter cranberry highlights. Tasty but almost overbearingly so. Intense fruit with caramel malt lowlights. Definitely unique..

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A steady pour into my New Belgium globe glass produces a three-finger thick, pink tinged, tan colored head. The beer is a dark, concentrated plum-amber color that shows a brilliantly clear, cranberry-juice red hue when held up to the light. The aroma is fruity and sweet; candied cranberries, fruity sweet cherries, and flora apple notes also have a touch of fruit tartness to it. The aroma reminds me quite a bit of a some sort of cough syrup, or perhaps of some sort of syrup I should be using in a desert. I canít even pretend to smell anything of the base beer here.
Sweet with lots of prickly carbonation and predominantly fruity. The finish tastes characteristically of apples, while up front the cherry notes intermingle with a light cranberry character; the cherries also linger into the finish with a cherry skin fruitiness that lingers a bit on the palate. There is a touch of tartness here that helps to slightly temper the sweetness. At times the mix of fruit reminds me of childrenís aspirin in the finish. The body is certainly a bit thick, it has a fullness to it that lingers a bit on the palate; definitely something to be sipped slowly. Once again the base beer is pretty much non-existent, perhaps a hint of maltiness, but I could very well be imagining it.
Nice as a desert, and in fairly small quantities, or if you have a serious sweet tooth. I honestly donít understand why this is ranked so highly compared to the fake, sweet, fruit Lambics out there; clean, candy sweet, and fruity, they are quite similar and can work in certain situations, though for my particular palate I wouldnít choose to drink these very often.
