Bottle shared with northropfrye. Luxurious cherry aroma. I could taste apples and cranberries. Beautifully sweet and tart, balanced exactly the way I like it. This beer’s a real treat.

Red maroon body with offwhite head, fades. Vibrant tart aroma of sweet cherries, some breadiness. Taste is also rather sour with nice sweet fruit. The one criticism I have of these New Glarus fruit beers, and it seems pretty consistent, is that the flavour fades very quickly. I would rate this higher if the flavour lingered a little bit, but it just doesn’t. Too bad. Still very good, though.

Pour yields a reddish-brown colored brew with a short fizzy head that recedes somewhat quickly. The nose carries a strong bit of cherry and cranberry as well as underlying earthiness. Some tartness coming through, as well as fruit skin. Flavor is moderately tart but has far too much underlying sweetness. Body is medium and appropriate, but there’s too much residual sweetness coming through. Pretty nice for a fruit beer, but pales in comparison to Belgian Red and, to a lesser degree, Raspberry Tart.

Bottle from Dak. Thanks my man. Pours a clear red-brown color with a tannish head. Aroma is cherry, apple and tart cranberry. Taste is sweet and tart. Medium bodied and sticky. Another incredible fruit beer from New Glarus. Better than Wisconsin Red? I’m not prepared to say that, but its certainly open for debate. Nobody can touch NG when it comes to fruit beers.

Split a 750ml bottle. Poured a pretty clear ruby amber color with a light pink fuzzy head. Aroma was rich and fruity, some crisp apple, tart cranberry and a nice sweet cherry note to it. Flavor was just so freaking enjoyable. Highly drinkable, highly refreshing, and well balanced. This is a beer that would be enjoyed by non-beer drinkers and well as seasoned veterans.

Aroma of cherry throat losenge, apple cider, and slight black cherry. Pours red with light head. Taste is intense like a sweet cider. Tart and fruity. Good stuff!

4th January 2013 THE stout tasting Pt1. Thanks to Bruce for this much wanted beer. Clear red - amber, little pale cream coloured head. Softish palate, slightly airy. Lovely sweet and sour fruity apples and pears nicely contrasted with tart cherry, strawberry and raspberry. A little sweet cream and then a soft finish. This was a joy of fruity zing after the triple Dark Lord attack!

Bottle. Sweet and fruity aroma, almost bubblegummy, with both apple and cherry evident. Not much head. Mostly clear, dark reddish amber body. The one fruit of the three that isn’t as evident in the nose is the first you notice in the flavor with a tart cranberry finish. Really outstanding but is meant to be shared due to its sweetness.

Bottle post-The Stout Tasting Part I, London - many thanks to Bruce for keeping the party going! Pours clear purple with a fine white cream cap. Big tart grape and berry aroma, some raspberry. Big sweet flavor, fairly thick, some grapes. Medium to full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Big and juicy. Reminiscent of bug juice. It’s kind of sugary. Still, really tasty.

While I wasn’t a big fan of the apple ale, I absolutely LOVE this brew. The sweetness from the cherries and cranberries really come through in the finish and make it a lot more enjoyable to me
Delicious beer that can be appreciated by both the biggest beer geeks and those who don’t enjoy beer at all.
The problem that we always run into when we’ve got this on hand is that it’s gone way too quickly.
