Commercial Description:
This authentic amber Irish ale is slow brewed with a blend of three malted barleys and finished with four varieties of hops. Then we dry-hopped in the lager tank to add a spicy note to warm your winter evenings. Expect this beer to be a beautiful copper-red, with a fruity ale body and a spiced hop finish.

12oz bottle from the brewery. Clear rich amber red colored body. Nose of sweet maple and cherry wood scented malt, light yeast esters and dusty, peppery oak. Flavor is more nutty than expected, with a toasted bread, chestnut, peanut and cracker malt flavor. Sweet but not too sweet, very low bitterness, and the texture is at times frothy and at times a bit watery, mostly in the finish. A decent malty amber/red ale.

12oz bottle, no date. Clear reddish orange with a light beige one finger head, pretty decent retention. Sweet caramel, toast, and earthy toffee dominate the aroma. Hints of raisins, spicy and grassy hops fill out the rest of the nose. So far, so good for this amber. Flavor is a little milder, though still has more flavor than a lot of ambers that I’ve had. Caramel and light spicy citrusy hops are the strongest flavors. Bitterness peaked at a 3. Light creamy carbonation with a medium body. Pretty good amber.

Thanks to the person in my spirit tasting group who left this behind. Poured into a tulip, this beer has virtually no head at all. It does, however, maintain a thin ring of foam around the edge, and a thin wisp of a cloudlike pattern in the middle. The nose has a toasty, biscuit smell that is just too weak. I feel that the lack of carbonation contributes to this. There is a slight caramel malt aroma. The taste is pretty good, especially since amber ales are not my thing. There are toasty and caramelized malts. The hops are light and grassy. The mouthfeel is cloying. I would normally refer to this as the finish, but I just simply do not like it. Drinkability is average. I would suggest this as a crossover beer that I will use to try and lure my father from Kilian’s into the seedy underworld of craft brews. Interesting. The commericial description calls this an Irish ale. So much for the brewer....
From the bottle this poured a clear copper body with a substantial, rocky ecru head that disappears in chunks. The aroma is malty sweet and fruity with apples and cherries and has a light floral bouquet. The flavor holds more fruitiness than maltiness and has a moderating earthy/herbal bitterness to it. Quaffable.

Nice amber with a thick white head. Aroma and flavor of roasty malts, spice, yeast, nuts and fruit with a slight metalic finish. Thin body, good, easy drinking beer.

New Glarus brews nothing but quality offerings. I was so glad to see that they have decided to put this brew back into circulation! I love the rustic label with the red snowshoes. Brings my thoughts to a winter cabin out in the woods. Thick, dense off-white foamy head. Deep copper/red in color. Packs a nice biTte for an amber - not as sweet as some in this category. You can taste the quality of the ingredients. This isn’t overhopped, or too malty. Just a man’s beer - a real beer.

I’m coming down with a virus, so I think I’ll rate a few beers while I still can. Pours clear amber with a smallish head. Nice aroma caramel, toasty, earthy hops. Tastes a little bland. Don’t know if it’s because I’m getting sick or not. Solid for it’s style. Might have to rerate. Copy this one OG. ;)

Pours a cear amber color with an average sized off white head and some lacing. Aroma of toasted caramel, roasted nuts, earthy yeast and some spice. Flavor is sweet caramel, light fruit and nutty. Thin slick texture. Nothing too complex but a very drinkable beer.
