Sephiroth (65), Indianapolis, Indiana, USA Feb 22, 2008 Thanks to the person in my spirit tasting group who left this behind. Poured into a tulip, this beer has virtually no head at all. It does, however, maintain a thin ring of foam around the edge, and a thin wisp of a cloudlike pattern in the middle.
The nose has a toasty, biscuit smell that is just too weak. I feel that the lack of carbonation contributes to this. There is a slight caramel malt aroma. The taste is pretty good, especially since amber ales are not my thing. There are toasty and caramelized malts. The hops are light and grassy. The mouthfeel is cloying. I would normally refer to this as the finish, but I just simply do not like it. Drinkability is average. I would suggest this as a crossover beer that I will use to try and lure my father from Kilian’s into the seedy underworld of craft brews.

Jmichael (582), Asheville, North Carolina, USA Sep 8, 2008 pours an amber copper with white head, sugar sweet malt aroma, smooth palate, mild candy background, dry finish. riversideAK (1648), Shoreline, Washington, USA Jul 8, 2008 Pours a dark amber brown with a nice lasting head. Aroma of some caramel, roast, chocolate, and some German styled hop presence. The flavor is light and sweet with caramel and chocolate, a slight vegetal pops through to me. Or something that was just a little seemingly off. More dark malts, a nice light spice from the hops and a light bitter/crisp finish. Interesting, but I don’t know if I am digging it all that much. Dorwart (1621), Robbinsville, New Jersey, USA Jun 13, 2008 Large off-white head of fine bubbles. Settles slowly and leaves a thick doily of lacing down the glass. Light roasted malts and some dry bitterness. Some crusty bread also. Color is a nice mahagony brown. Flavor is lightly bitter with some spices and roasted grains. Pretty generic. Finishes bitter with a bit of tartness that is making my m
outh salivate. Eh. pint_size (1004), Austin, Texas, USA Jun 2, 2008 5-17-08 bottle shared with lb4lb thanks to buckybeer!

Smooth and has a solid interesting flavor. KingpinIPA (817), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA May 26, 2008 Copper color. Smell of malt, spice, hops and fruit. Taste of hops, copper, malt and a splash of dark fruit.
