Big nutty aroma with lots of sweet caramel and roasted malt. Smooth, tihick and full bodied, with nice, light carbonation. Flavor is a very nice balance of roasted malt, caramel and floral, slightly spicy hops. The hops linger right through to the finish for a nice ending. Very enjoyable. | 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Aug 29, 2005 Right after opening the first bottle, I could smell how roasted the taste would be. Roasted nuts, toast, and caramel all make an impact here. Body is a bit oily, making for very rich pulls. Each sip finishes with a crisp taste of hops. Overall, very nice balance. Aroma picked up some caramel and floral notes, with just some slight spices... with a roasty backbone. Light-to-medium mouthfeel and powerfully smooth. Caramel malts provided some sweetness... with a nicely balanced hoppy bitterness on the finish. Smooth, tasty, and well-balanced.. definitely enjoyed this one! Malty flavor with a hint of hops. Not bad at all. Very enjoyable. Session qualities. Not very balanced. StewardofGondor (1934), Washington Heights - Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 15, 2005 On tap @ GTMW. Clear opulent amber in color with a foamy tan head. Aroma is caramel, peat, grain and corn husks. Fuller bodied than anticipated, but a little searing and syrupy. Caramel and woodsy pecans headline the flavors yet diffuse on the palate rather quickly. Other elements seem to seep out of a mixed bag of nuts, from hazelnut shells to dry brazils. Okay, but seemed in cohesive. hezron (601), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA

Not getting an increadible spice bouquet, but I do notice some floral notes along with the caramel. Copper red color with a very thin white head. Flavor of caramel maltiness with a n abrubt, sweet nutty finish. Slightly sugary, but not cloying. I think I notice some minerals in the flavor also. Light body with a watery texture and a sugary finish. This is a rerate, original rating was 3.1 after 4 big barleywines. jollyraider (252), Los Angeles, California, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 8/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2005 The only other Oktoberfest I’ve had is Leinie’s. Let me say that this trumps it hands down. Great session beer, if the alc. % was lower. Crisp, piney hops, sweet malts. aobecksy (661), Middle of no where, Ohio, USA
