UPDATED: DEC 7, 2013 Fresh apples jump from the glass. Spiced cidery complexion, sweetness from the red apples, delicious applesauce nose. Sometimes I forget how tasty this stuff is, and thatís an injustice.

Poured from a 12 oz. bottle into a tulip.
Apple Ale looks like apple cider with a more robust head. It is a caramel or dark golden orange color with a hazy effervescence. The cap on top froths up suitably, eventually leaving a few wisps of a cap and a ring around the edge of the glass.
Tons of red apple notes in the aroma. It smells sweet and again reminds me of apple cider. There is a bit of a tart acidity that enters my nose as well.
The flavor is nearly spot on for sparkling apple cider. The flavor starts with a burst of red apple skin and sugary apples, with only the tartness giving away any clue that this is not a cider. A bit of white grape juice or white wine adds a little more character to the flavor. Not much from the malt bill actually gets through, and there are certainly no hops present.
The crisp carbonation suits this beer well. It has a light to medium body, and the sweetness from the flavor carries over into a sensation on the lips.
Duplicating the flavor of a cider is an interesting feat, but it is not what I am really looking for in a beer. I would drink this again, but I have enjoyed New Glarusí other fruit beers more.

What is it about these guys and fruit...they always nail it. Share from Greg. Clear gold with slightly greenish hue. Nose is straight up green apple jolly rancher. Taste follows with nice clean crisp finish. Terrific if not terrible complex...just is what it is like their other fruit offerings.

What another lovely beer from NG! Taste just like Wisconsin Apple Cider. I do wish it had more "beer" to it, whether that be in ABV or more malt I donít know.

Bright and clear amber. Big fresh apple nose. Tight champagne carbonation makes it lively and crisp

Bottle (12 oz). From northropfrye, thanks Andrew! Clear golden/amber with little head and no lacing. Aroma of sweet apple, slight spices and slight tart notes. Taste is sweet, but not cloying and dominated by apples with slight spices, brown sugar and slight acidic presence. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. No alcohol (not surprising at 3,8% abv). Extremely drinkable and quite complex for a beer with such a low abv. Really fruity. Very good!
