Apple Ale sings with the fresh crisp taste of Wisconsin Apples. Our brewmaster begins with a brown ale base employing Wisconsin farmed wheat and a blend of Cortland, MacIntosh and Jonathan apples. Our apple growing friends squeeze them especially for this brew. Expect this ale to pour a beautiful copper color. The fresh bouquet of Apple will rise to meet you even before the glass touches your lips.

Bottle courtesy of Ed at Heritage Liquors. Pours a welcoming cider color with no discernable head. You can smell the apples from across the room. Tastes like the best apple cider ever, but at 3.8% I felt let down. Put this in a brandy barrel or you might as well put a straw on the side. Otherwise, its gonna get used in a sauce.

Bottle from Heritage splitsies with nbutler11. Full aroma of Braeburn and Granny Smith apples with hints of vanilla and light spice. Deep golden color. Flavor as above, but I am of the mind that fruit beer is easy to make good with a sub-4 ABV. This maybe would be best as part of a reduction...

Bottle. Pours a copper cider brown with a small white head. Lots of apple cider to the nose. Same apple cider flavors with nice hints of vanilla and very slight oak. Incredibly smooth mouth. Tasty!

courtesy of cigarcitybrew. Could this one replace my New Glarus all time fav. of Belgian Red? They are so close, and so unique in their style. New Glarus has once again top the quality with this ale. Pours copper with thin white head. Aroma is loaded with the bubbly nose of apple juice, close enough to remind me of an excellent cider. New Glarus is not joking around with the fruits, and they are using some fine apples. Taste is loaded with apples and very faint malts. Not only do we get some fine apple taste, there is also a very light bitter feel of the apple skin. The whole is mixed with a very light bubbly finish.

Pours a sparkling copper with a white head. Aroma smells like apple cider and cinnamon. Tastes a lot like fresh, sparkling apple cider, with a bit of malt and bitterness in the finish. Pretty awesome.

Bottle courtesy of Retorp by way of TheCheeseMan. Pours a pale copper with a small white head. Aroma is strait up Red Delicious, not much else but it smells like fresh pressed red apples. Taste is the same as aroma with a hint of sweet malt in the finish. Medium mouthfeel with a mild amount of bitterness. Very good.

Courtesy TheCheeseMan. Fresh 2008 Unplugged version. This clear bodied brew is copper in color, crowned with a fluffy pillow of smooth, beige colored foam. A soapy wash of sugary lace dries to minimal, jagged lines and spots. The aroma is simple, but inviting. Freshly pressed red apple juice dominates, with subtle hints of soft oak an vanilla falling in line. Sweet Macintosh apple flavors pair well with mild caramel and just a dash of spicy cinnamon, while a hint of green apple tartness comes through on the finish. Just shy of medium bodied, there is ample cidery sweetness to the mouthfeel, with a sharp tingle of active micro-bubbles. Save for the frothy head, there is probably no way I could distinguish this from a cider. Dan Carey can carve another notch int his fruit beer championship belt.

Foremented apple cider flavor dominates the brown ale but it hard to complain it is so delicious. Nearly too sweet but come out on top.

Courtesy of TheCheeseMan. Wow, apples. This pours like apple juice, golden, slightly fizzy, head is nowhere. Aroma of apple juice, some apple skins, a little spice. Taste is apple cider all the way with some cinnamon, caramel and spiciness. Sweet, a little tart in the mouthfeel, low carb with some prickly bubbles, a little dryness. Excellent. Hard to believe there is malt in there, very like cider.

Poured golden with no head. Apple cider aroma. Tasted much like sparkling apple juice. Very sweet. Maybe a hint of malt. Does not taste much like beer, but definitely a nice change of pace. Once again New Glarus comes up with an interesting and tasty fruit beer.
