A few times a year we cut Dan loose to brew whatever he chooses. Always handcrafted, the bottle you hold is brewed for the adventurous soul. This is a very limited edition and we make no promises to ever brew this style again. Our 2012 Barley Wine bridges continents of style, a harmonious creation of Diploma Master Brewer Daniel Carey. He personally chose the hop fields that were harvested for this powerful beast of a brew. Styrian Golding, Willamette, Columbia, and Sterling with bold citrus and resin notes. All perfectly balanced with toasty graham cracker flavors of floor malted barley. Savor this very big beer at 45° F and it will reward you with an open embrace.

Bottle at the Semi-Final Tasting, my place in London. Thanks to Jack. Pours clear gold with a fine, white foam head. Sugary malts on the nose with light caramel and some faint floral notes. Big sweet flavor with sticky pine, sturdy grass, a bit of caramel, and alcohol. Full bodied with fine to average carbonation. Warming finish, big and sweet, with more caramel and alcohol, some ripe fruits, heavy malts. Not terrible, but it would probably improve a lot as it mellows out with age.

Clear amber in color with a khaki head. Strong sugar aroma, a nice toasted malt note, and a bit of sweet fruit. Some citrusy hops and a touch of pine. Fairly sweet on the palate with a perfumey hop profile. Lots of grapefruit zest, a light pine, and plenty of sweetness. Nice brown and table sugars, a little bit of caramel, and some toast. A hint of fruits and alcohol on the finish.

Bottle shared by alexsadad06. Poured clear copper color with an average off-white head that mostly lasted with good lacing. Moderate to heavy toasted caramel malt and resin hop aroma. Moderate to heavy body with a smooth texture and soft carbonation. Medium to heavy biitersweet flavor to medium to heavy bittersweet finish of moderate to long duration. My expectations where exceeded with a complex beer.
