Thanks to Tooch4321 for this one in trade. Cheers, Adam! Pours a slightly hazy brown with an off-white head. Nose is chocolate, slight cocoa, slight banana, and a hint of biscuit, with hints of an egg cream. Flavor is similar- chocolate, cocoa, Belgian yeast, chocolate soda, a hint of vanilla, and a hint of almost plantain-esque banana. Light in body and finishing with lingering chocolate and banana.

On tap at Sugar Maple and from a bottle from Skyview. I wanted to try this one again before I rated it since I did not care for it off the tap. Deep reddish brown with a thin tan head. There’s an artificial feel to the aroma of chocolate, lightly roasted malt, mild cherry and a touch of bready yeast. Taste is somewhat plastic as well with chocolate, malt, yeast and not much else. I let it warm and it didn’t really help. The thumbprint/unplugged are hit or miss for me and this one swung and missed.

Refrigerated bottle poured into a trappist glass. Pours translucent dark brown with crimson highlights and half inch beige head. Good lacing, medium body, small bubble texture, and chocolate/tootsie roll aroma. Taste is complex malty chocolate, some dark fruit, and a hint of smoke.

12 ounce bottle thanks to Eric. Pours a deep mahogany color with a small white head. The aroma is sweet milky cocoa, some dry fruit. The flavor is mostly a well made sweet and fruity Dubbel, some vinous flavors, lots of dry chocolate as well. Very rich. Really, the depth of this style makes the chocolate seem almost normal minus the really dry cocoa aspect. Quite well made and good.

Bottle thanks to burg, awesome extra. Love NG stuff. Dark pour with a tight beige head, some lace, stuck around. Nice aroma. Complex. Rich cocoa up front. Lightly roasted, bits of vanilla and some spicy yeast esters. Flavors were more yeasty than the aroma. Well developed spice character with nice underlying notes of chocolate and a light sweetness. Enjoyable brew.

12 oz bottle from Jeff, Thanks! Pour is a clear, fairly dark brown with nice red highlights. Lots of head initially, but quickly fades to subpar lacing. Aroma is great: Dark chocolate bitterness, milk chocolate sweetness, slight roasty malts, light brown sugar. Yeast is present in a spicy way that really accents the malt profile and chocolate. One of the more interesting noses in a while...very nice! Taste is more yeast forward, but a strong chocolate presence is still there, with a roasty malt finish and slight fruit yeast notes. Very lightly smokey. Very, very enjoyable.

Brown body with minimal head. The aroma is very sweek and non-describpt. Perhaps a bit of carob. The body has some tootsie roll flavor, followed by belgian spice, and ending in a generic malt flavor.
