COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

Bottle. Pours amber with subtle floaties and a nice white tight soapy head that fades to a thin film. Aroma has good yeast and bread notes with some pepper and some noticeable hops. Taste is all of the above with a good lemon zest and pepper hop bitterness, and a very nice farmhouse finish. Palate is slick and shows good carbonation with a drying finish. Very solid Saison.

Bottle picked up from Woodman’s in Madison. Pours a brilliant gold with a huge white head. The nose is generically fruity, white pepper, faint clove and pilsner malt. Some yeasty overtones as well as some citrus. On tasting, moderately tart. Lacks the plasticky phenols that can be so unpleasant in some of these ’merican saisons. Nice level of fruitiness to support the tart notes. Clean overall and refreshing. Nice iteration.

12 oz. bottle. It pours a hazed golden color with a medium white head, which dissipates a bit. Aroma of hay, fresh dough, pale malts. I get notes of lemon zest and grass, as well as mild pepper and earth. There are some lemon grass and herbal notes as well. Flavor has strong lemon and pepper notes as well as some funky earthy overtones. There’s a fair amount of zesty yeast tones and mild malt sweetness. Nice, well-carbonated mouthfeel with a crisp citrus finish. This is a good American saison.

Bottle. Clear dark golden pour, good frothy/thick carbonation and lacing with a light funky lemon rind aroma. Flavor is light lemon, pear, white pepper and some creamy funk on the finish. Extremely enjoyable.

8/10/12. 12oz bottle thanks to cbfobes! Hazy orange pour with a really nice off-white head that is thick and lasts forever. Citrus and mellow cream aromas with definite phenolics. Light citrus and cream flavor with nice yeast aspects and phenolics. Nice!

12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a big creamy white head with little lacing. Plenty of spicy Belgian yeast and some fruity esters, hints of banana. Orange zest and white pepper. Crisp, spicy Belgian yeast with some sweeter malt and grain notes, which I wasn’t expecting as much. Lemongrass, orange zest and even a bit of sugary pears in the finish. The mouthfeel is less carbonation than many saisons and definitely on the heavier side of things. It’s also sweeter and less dry than most in the style. This is another great beer from New Glarus but I don’t think it’s one of the best versions I’ve had (unlike their wheat beers, which are stunning).

12oz bottle from the bed and breakfast that we are staying at. sweet. black top too to boot... pours a mostly transparent, although just a touch hazy, consistent throughout and topped with a thin to medium soapy white head... lemon, citrus, and hay found in the aroma. a light yeastiness also present as well ... flavors are crisp, lemony with other supporting citrus aspects alongside mild yeasty note. a little phenolic with spiced undertones. a touch of bitterness on the backend but fairly minimal. mouthfeel is shy of medium with quite active and lively carbonation.
