Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

12oz bottle from the bed and breakfast that we are staying at. sweet. black top too to boot... pours a mostly transparent, although just a touch hazy, consistent throughout and topped with a thin to medium soapy white head... lemon, citrus, and hay found in the aroma. a light yeastiness also present as well ... flavors are crisp, lemony with other supporting citrus aspects alongside mild yeasty note. a little phenolic with spiced undertones. a touch of bitterness on the backend but fairly minimal. mouthfeel is shy of medium with quite active and lively carbonation.

Picked up a single 12-oz bottle from Casanova in Hudson, Wisconsin. Pour a semi-clear golden straw colored saison with a decent sized rocky white head that has some excellent retention and lacing. Aroma of golden grain malt, some light clove, hint of ginger, white pepper and yeast. Taste is medium bodied, some mild spice with additional flavors of ginger, golden grain malt, light floral hops and a hint of banana. Finish has a mild ginger aftertaste, some spicy yeast and a hint of citrus. Solid saison.

Pours to a glowing slightly opaque brassy body with a lightly frothy white head. Aromas of cinnamon, ginger, light clove, and banana. The flavor is banana and fresh ginger up front with light clove, toasted malts, and cinnamon on the finish. Spiciness from the yeast and carbonation on the palate. Medium bodied with a long lasting palate. Sweet, but not sugary. The lively carbonation really holds this beer together.

Enjoyed froma bottle purchased at Whole Foods...on sale! Aroma is bright with citrus, cinnamon and cloves. The appearance is a pale amber orange with a thin white head. The taste is not very sweet with some hoppy bitterness. A slightly sour citrus taste but no lingering aftertaste. The beer is medium body and smooth with fine carbonation and slowly dissipating finish as the carbonation leaves your tongue. Overall, this is a good summer beer that will make you think, but just not too much.

Light cloudy yellow with thick foam. Slowly melts. Nice aroma, remind me of mown grass. Taste is fruity with a little pepper. Clove and a bit of hops. Nice mouthfeel. Good carbonation. Overall excellent. Get some if you can! More beer please...

Pours a hazy gold with a 3-4 finger, chunky, white head. Aroma is full of lemony citrus (more rind than fruit), grains of paradise are very noticeable, general peppery and sweet bread spice notes, cereal grain, toast, hints of floral and citrus hops and fruity yeast notes. Flavor is lemon, up front, grains of paradise, citrus peel, sweet bread spice, light pepper, after all the spices and weirdness die off a bit some nice malt notes come through, sweet hay, cereal grain, starchy hot cereal, pine nuts and bready yeast. Finishes with grains of paradise, peppery and spicy, possibly some yeasty spice in there as well, a bit hard to tell. Palate is medium with a dusty, oily feel and light, but blanketing and somewhat sharp carbonation. I don’t know the alcohol content, but I do notice a little alcohol coming through. Good stuff overall, despite the fact that it is yet another over spiced and (slightly) boozy saison, I did enjoy it quite a bit. Personally I would love to see less grains of paradise and more hops and yeast charactor.

Lightly spritzy propelling a citric lemony, and fruity melon aroma. Also some coriander and white pepper. The more golden side of copper with a beautiful fine bubbled white head. Sweet and drinkable with little hop in the finish. Can’t pick out much as far as yeast profiles -- to estery for me to discern. I’d be interested to revisit this beer done a bit more dry and with less in the way of fruit esters. There seems to be some compelling bits in the hay and what tastes to me like coriander but could be grains of paradise that might stand out more with this beer pared down as only New Glarus pares down.

Pours slightly hazy gold with white head. Aroma is yeast and lemon citrus. Lots of lemon and citrus flavors, but it also has a pine hoppy bite to it, also has some spicy peppery taste to is to that bites along with the hops. The yeast flavor starts to creep through more after a few drinks to, and it’s good. Very crisp and refreshing. Good summer, beer, I’m not crazy about beers with so much lemon taste but the hop bite and spiciness kind of balance it out.
