COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

12 oz bottle shared by Tooch. Thanks, buddy. Pours a richly glowing darker rich golden hue. Healthy glow, some deeper haze elements with a frothy whitish head. Dies to a mellow film, ring, and laces ok overall. Aromas are richly fruity, touches of apple, pear, and citrus. Gentle spice, dryness, and yeast. Some bready malts, dough, and some grainy malt. Touches of soap, dry hops, citrus and florals. Initial is lighter end of the medium end of the fold, with touches of apple, pear, and gentle citrus. Bready malts, dough, a touch of florals and touches of hops, with firmly fruity elements. Estery, pear and apple. Touches of spice, dryness, earthy hops, gentle yeast. Touches of dryness, a bit cidery into the backend. Touches of banana, fruit. A good fresh Saison. I can’t see age treating this well, but it’s a very nice beer.

I got a single bottle of this from Woodman’s in Janesville, WI for $2.69 in July 2012. It’s always great to see New Glarus with a new beer. This saison brew is very yeasty in scent and taste with hints of lemon zest, ginger, and banana. Drinks quite well with its rich and creamy texture. Overall very tasty, but why would you expect anything less from New Glarus?

Pale amber-gold with copious white head and ample carbonation. Aroma is floral/perfume-like/peppery hops, pear, and mild spice. Flavor starts with mildly sweet pear and peach that is cleared from the palate by the active carbonation and a peppery/spicy hop bitterness. Nice, well-attenuated, dry finish.

Bottled. Poured clear, brilliant golden with a short-lived white head. The aroma picked up bright grains of paradise, apricot, and some cloves over dank grapefruit meat, bready notes, and a little honey.. this was overly-hopped according to style guidelines, but I’m ignoring that, and I really wanted to drink it. The flavor found bready and honey sweetness at the core, with bright, juicy tropical fruit and grassy hoppage plus grains of paradise around.. even brighter toward the back, picking up dry white pepper and cloves. Medium-bodied with heavier, rolling carbonation on the palate.. very spicy and hoppy.. a hair too big to really be refreshing, but it was mighty tasty, and I intend to drink a lot of these.

12oz bottle from Downer Wine and Spirits. Pours a bright, golden yellow color with a big white head. Aroma is fruity, lemon, pineapple. Medium on the palate with lively carbonation. Flavor is sweet, bready, cereal, yeasty, lemon, spicy, black pepper, with a spicy, bready finish. I’m no expert on Saisons, but this is pretty tasty in my estimation. I’ll ber curious to see what others think.

Poured from 12oz bottle picked up from the Pig in Edgerton, pours a nice golden color with a thin whtie head and tons of tiny bubbles through out the entire glass, aroma has a nice belgian yeast touch with a good amount of fruit and tartness, the flavor has a crazy smooth front end with a lot of fruits coming through, good amount of pineapple and pear really show. The finish is somewhat dry but is still refreshing at the same exact time. There is a little bit of pepper that shows right in the finish as well. Carbonation is fairly high but it really works well, I plan on drinking a lot of this in the next 2 months.

Bottle from Jeff, thanks! My words upon first sip "Oh, yeah". Just a fantastic, uber thirst quenching saision. Pour is a fairly clear gold, with a spare white head that stays aloft due to a fair bit of carbonation. Aroma is spicy cracker, a bunch of floral notes, lots of white fruit. Distinct belgian yeast character, lots of nice esters in there. Taste is much the same, with the spicy notes resolving to ginger, a bit of white pepper. Complex malt notes that I cant quite pin down. Mouthfeel is fairly full, due primarily to the carbonation level. Feels just a touch sweeter than I might like, but MAN, another great brew from the good folks across the border. I could drink a ton of this stuff....

Bottle - Pours lightly cloudy amber with a big foamy white head. Nose is white pepper, dusty yeast, faint cardamon, floral/perfume notes. Malt is light and crackery. Very delicate nose. Taste has some of the same notes--there’s the white pepper providing a nice contrast to some tropical fruitiness. Pear, pineapple, and peach all show their faces. Finishes with some mineral dryness, a hint of banana, and a bit of spiciness. Light floral hopping. Terribly refreshing, and so happy this isn’t too sweet or overspiced. The carbonation is dialed up a bit, but that seems to be typical for NG. Fluffs up the body without detracting from the taste. Fantastic stuff.
