Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

Bottle. Musty lemon, yeast, and barley malt aroma - very nice. Slightly hazy golden yellow with large head. Musty lightly sweet lemon and barley malt flavor. Very tasty - wish they’d make this a regular.

12 oz bottle courtesy of Todd. Pours a cloudy golden yellow straw with a medium sized white head. Aroma of wheat, lemon zest, peppery notes and Belgian yeast. Taste is much the same.

Slightly cloudy with a hay-colored hue, this ale has a frothy, white head. The aroma is somewhat spicy and peppery, with a touch of something sweet (citrus?) and a light funk. For me it could use a little. It of body, but compared to their ’farmhouse ale’ the spotted cow, this saison is amazing. It’s dry and somewhat spicy, highly effervescent, and really quite refreshing.

Bottle-sent to me from a good friend in So. WI December 2012-pours lightly hazy orange hue with vigorous carbonation and a fizzy white head around the glass. Looks very true to this style. nose is spicy, yeasty, lite ripe citrus (lemon, lime, lite canned pineapple), GOP. Its definately spiced, but not overbearing like alot of them tend to be. Still has quite a bit of tart yeasty saison character. Flavors are tart spice, lite citrus, metallic, tart lemons with some funk in there as well. sprtizy carbonation really tends to bring out the tart notes here. Long dry tart finish dead on for the style. This is much better than that imperial version they put out a few years ago. Nice work once again NG :)

This is not as good as the Unplugged saison was. Hazy gold color and initially a tall white head that completely fades away. Saison yeast with grain. Flavor is slightly bitter with grass and hops, and there is alcohol in here as well.

Bottle poured a slightly hazy gold w/ a quickly diminishing white head and some lacing. Moderate aromas of ginger, spices and funk. Initial flavor very light sweet to a light sour finish. Tastes are spice, leather, grass, and yeasty dough. Light to medium bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation with a dry alcohol feel in the finish.

Bottle:   Golden in color, very bright, light carbonation, moderate frothy white head, spotty lacing.   Mealy up front, otherwise that bready floral aroma so consistent with American examples of Saisons.   However, this one does seem to have a bit more spicy note, perhaps some peppery and citrusy flair.   On the tongue its very peppery, some ginger, with bready floral notes.   This one is not your average American Saison, but instead there is a twist.   Not dank or bright, tiz very spicy but not in the traditional sense.   Interesting example to say the least.

Bottle. Pours a mostly-clear golden yellow, minimal head. Smells strongly of lemon, orange. Perhaps has an almost smoky smell to it, not sure why I’m getting that. Has a good sweetness in the taste that isn’t overpowering.
