Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

Thanks to Steasy66 for the trade! Pours a clear dark yellow under one of those soapy heads that leaves nice lace. The aroma is a mix of fruit, herbs and lemon rind. The flavor is lightly sweet and fruity with a very soft herbal dryness in the finish. Lively and spritzy.

Bottle thanks to phaleslu, NOT failslu. Thanks! Aroma of toasted toasted dough, wet grass, herbs. Taste is soft bitter herbal grass, rustic dough. High carbonation. More doughy than expected, but works. Nice beer.

Aroma: alcohol, maybe some banana, barley, actually somewhat muted; Appearance: a ever so slightly hazy golden, bordering on orange, after the pour, the slightest ring of carbonation settles on the edges by the glass, good bubble action after the pour; Taste: some clove, some banana cream, something doughy, some citrus rind, quite complex, extremely tasty; Palate: something sweet lingers, decent bitter that lingers, good nose feel in the carbonation; Overall: I really like this beer, I can’t say exactly why, but I’m guessing its mostly because it tastes awesome and without any one flavor/aspect dominating, I’m not an expert taster by any means, but I swear that this beer is one of the more complex I’ve had in a while, I’d definately recommend it

28 sept 2012, bottle. Faintly cloudy yellow. Nose is definitely saison; light coriander, white grape juice, straw. Thin body and lightly fizzy. Lemon rind and straw. Slightly sweet, twinge on lemon rind finish.

Bottle to snifter (thanks alexsdad06). Looks good; a semi-transparent orange with white lacing. Smells solid; tropical citrus with white pepper notes. Tastes the same with a nice mouthfeel. Good.

Picked up while in Madison this is another fine entry in the Unplugged/Thumbprint series. While it is not the best there are certainly less inspiring releases. Buy a four pack so you can drink one now and still have three left to enjoy in the years to come.

Aroma / Appearance - The carbonated base sparkles with a semi-transparent presence that glows. Little head remains once it settles down. Straw, freshly cut hay tramped in the field, and oranges warm the senses. Smelling like a barnyard after a light rain it has a simple but elegant nose.

Flavor / Palate - Straw and hay soften the senses almost immediately. Damp muddy boots carry into a orange citrus finish. A fine mixture of Belgian and American influences this is worth drinking again and again until it finally can’t be found.
