COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Saison, the original Farmhouse Ale, was the refreshing invention of thirsty Belgian farmers. Wisconsin pale barleys brewed with Grains of Paradise in this bright new copper hued ale. Deceptively approachable, its complicated fermentation incorporates a blend of three Belgian yeast strains and is fully bottle conditioned. Fresh hops snap with lemon zest and peppery ginger notes, lending to its enigmatic personality. Enjoy, as this sassy Wisconsin Saison is at its best thirst quenching drinkability now.

12oz bottle. Pours a slightly hazy golden yellow with a big creamy white head with little lacing. Plenty of spicy Belgian yeast and some fruity esters, hints of banana. Orange zest and white pepper. Crisp, spicy Belgian yeast with some sweeter malt and grain notes, which I wasnít expecting as much. Lemongrass, orange zest and even a bit of sugary pears in the finish. The mouthfeel is less carbonation than many saisons and definitely on the heavier side of things. Itís also sweeter and less dry than most in the style. This is another great beer from New Glarus but I donít think itís one of the best versions Iíve had (unlike their wheat beers, which are stunning).

Pours a cloudy orange from the bottle with bubbly white head that dissipates to leave moderate lace. Aroma of funky Belgian farmhouse yeast, hints of grass and lemon. Taste is more toward malt, slightly oxidized, not sure how this was treated or how old it is down here in Georgia. Not bad, sure it was better fresh.

Bottle (12 oz). From Rich, thanks! Cloudy golden/orange with a medium white head and good lacing. Aroma is quite fruity with grainy, honeyed sweetness and some spices. Taste is also fruity and grain with spices and moderate sweetness. Medium body. Moderate carbonation. Oily mouthfeel. Spicy finish. Not bad, but not easily drinkable/quenching and really nothing to crave for. Boring.

Smell is honey and generic saison smell. Taste follows the nose with a pleasant honey note. Good medium to high carbonation with light foam that compliments the honey note.

Hazy gold pour. White head. Fruity, sweet, light grainy notes, bubblegum. Not overly saison-like.

Bottle from Tom10101. Golden pour with some white frothy head. Aroma is grass, spices, cloves and a bit of fruity esters. Taste is hmmm, a bit of spice, grass, drops off a cliff real quick, very basic, light carbonation, with a watery palate. Disappointing.

Bottle. Clear gold pour with thin white head. Aroma is grainy, light banana, musty grain, bready notes. Taste is grrainy, very straightforward, light bready notes. Palate is a bit sweet, light carbonation. Pretty boring saison, I didnít dig this at all.

Pours a slightly hazy golden color with white fizzy head. Funk, light fruits, and some spice on the nose; follows onto the palate. Finishes with a raw wheat note.

Bottle from StFun. Thanks! The pour is a golden-orange color with a lasting white foam on top. The aroma is heavy on the fruity esters, with yeast, bread, and cotton candy joining in. This is sweet, too sweet, going down with lively carbonation and a gentle touch of spice. The body is heavy and sticky. As with the scent, thereís lots of fruity esters in the flavor department. A heavy yeast character and caramel notes add substance thatís not really needed. No funk and this doesnít ever dry out much. Whatís the abv of this? Tastes strong like a Tripel or some sort of Belgian Strong. I didnít dislike the bottle I had but itís not a good representation of a quality Saison.

In short: A generic, sweet and fruity Belgian blonde ale. Boring beer and not much of a Saison.
How: Bottle 12oz, consumed a few months after receiving it from oakbluff, thanks Scott.
The look: Mostly clear golden-blonde body topped by a medium white head that does not leave much lacings on the glass.
In long: Nose is typical Belgian blonde ale fruity esters, this beer smells like any no-hops generic blonde ale. Body is feels rather full and with a lively carbonation. Bottle or ratebeer does not mention abv but the mouthfeel is as full and lively as Tripel. Taste dominantly sweet, fruity (canned fruits with the sweet juice, bananas, more..), yeasty, wort. No hops to speak of. I totally fail to see the Saison in this beer. This is an underhopped sweet generic Belgian blonde ale like many lower-tier Belgian breweries produce, the mouthfeel is spot-on, everything else is uninteresting. I hate to give a bad rating to a beer from a brewery I love but I donít rate with my heart, it would make a bloody mess, I rate with my hands.
