12 ounce bottle from Badger Spirits in Beloit, WI, sampled a bit below cellar temp from a New Glarus glass. Pale amber with a glowing, translucent sheen, thickish fairly substantial capping that recedes with stately, moderate speed...deep, sweet, honey’d orange and wet pine on the nose, lightly perfumy, not as strong or complex as some but quite inviting....on the tongue, a somewhat woody, dry character runs through the profile, with a very sweet and luscious (though not sticky) overlay featuring a moderate, consistent hop bitterness throughout but never totally dominating...thick and full, one is left with a juicy, warming, slightly bitter and lightly burnt finish. The mouthfeel on the whole is really quite something, containing burnt, sweet and bitter in a lovely balance, never fatiguing despite it’s thickness. For those who need to have their IIPAs insanely bitter - the Ruination model - this is not going to suffice; me, I can take both the sweeter, richer end of the spectrum and the rougher, more bitter types. This is a fine example of the former.

Golden orange, clear, light head with lace. Aroma is citrus bitter bite, with some mild minty pine, some mineral and malts. Drinks with quite a bit of pine fairly malty, orange citrus. Pretty bitter. Has kind of a woody cherry taste to it from malts? maybe. Up there in strength, which can be messy, this is decent for a double. Its pretty refined, and not over the top like they don’t want to be, but often over the top makes for a pretty good ipa.

Nice aroma of fresh pine, spicy citrus, and some fresh cut grass. Deep orange color with a light off white head. Rich sweet malt up front. Rich fresh caramel, quickly backed up backed up by a piney bitter bite, that intensifies on the finish. Some hints of orange and citrus as well. Bitterness really accelerates on the finish in a good way. Some alcohol burn as well...nice. Slightly slick mouth feel. Solid.

Clear, golden pour with a frothy, white head. The aroma has nice, floral hops. It has a medium body with slightly oily texture and lively carbonation. The bittersweet taste has some mild fruity notes and a smooth finish. The high alcohol is well-hidden in the taste.
