New Glarus does beer right. Period. This IIPA pours golden orange with a medium fluffy white head. The aroma is a perfect blend of citrus and pine notes. Smooth doesn't even begin to describe this amazing beer. The mouth feel is slightly creamy, and the taste is a delicate balance of golden malts and hop character. So great. New Glarus continues to raise the bar.

Bottle from flandersned-thanks, Steve! Orange gold. Nose is initially garlic, but quickly moves on to more citrus elements and honey as it warms. Bitter pine/dank but balanced, very smooth drinking.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Lightly hazed, apricot orange with an abundance of pillowy white fluff. The aroma is initially catty, roasted garlic and zucchini, and while these divisive shades are constantly present, it eventually settles in softer territory. Here, pineapple, guava, minerals, and dry pine resin can be found. Aerosol like alcohol fragrance is apparent and malts are lost.
The bold, weedy hop flavor is pretty aggressive here, and the alcohol content is seemingly quite high. The lavender, orange pith, and herb notes are muddled in an extreme intangible syrup that canít be well defined. Actual malt flavors are indistinct, while basic sugar and alcohol are obvious.
Good effervescence amidst the overall fulsome texture. However, the overwhelming bitter oils of the mid palate coupled with the finishing sticky alcohol illustrate all too clearly the flawed makeup of this example. Were I to taste this blind, a much less skilled brewer than this would come to mind. This was purchased unrefrigerated off the shelf with no bottling date evident.

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Large off white head, lasting with good lacing. Hazy gold coor. Malt forward nose, slight hop. Body is ful, soft carbonation. Malt forward flavors, caramel, toasty, slight citrus. Sorta sweet. Looks like they they took a page from some of the malty sweet east coast brewers. Fairly sweet malty over bearing IPA. Props to MOTORTODDHEAD for the botles.Fairly dissappointing.

Not the hoppiest, not the fruitiest, not the most well-balanced, but this beer is pretty great nonetheless. Great balance, though a touch favoring the hoppy tropical fruit and resin character. Tried courtesy of Dave in 2014.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
This beer pours a hazy copper color with a medium off-white head that recedes gradually. Partial rings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of floral hops, citrus and roast malt. Medium to full body with flavors of tropical fruit, herbal hops and caramel malt. Some pine and spices in the background. The finish is moderately bitter with a citrusy hops aftertaste. Enjoyable IIPA all around.

Pale golden orange pour with a thin off white head and light lacing .... Aroma of oranges, piney resiny, citrusy hops, some caramel malts and some abv with a bit of floral to it .... Taste is of oranges, citrusy hop oils, piney and resiny with malty backbone and a solid bitter hop bite ... Has a bitter and sweet citrusy finish that is dry and doesnít longer too long ... Solid and fresh brew Those Wisconsin hops are not too shabby!

4.3 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ox. bottle pours a hazy dark golden color with a small white head that leaves some lacing. Aroma is full of pine resin, grass, and tropical fruits. Taste is sweet with a bitter finish and enough maltiness in the middle to keep things interesting and balanced. Body is full with a sticky mouthfeel. Alcohol is present but hidden. This is one of the best ever from a favorite brewer, and a well balanced IIPA I wish I could find again.

Picked this up at a supermarket in southern Wisconsin on the way back from the brewery, wow, this is well integrated IIPA. Iím not going to put it at the top, but given that New Glarus is mostly known for making excellent fruit beers, Iím pleasantly surprised by this. Glad I bought two four packs, canít wait to share some with my hophead friends back home.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Appearance is cloudy pale golden, with a light white foam cap that dissipates quickly. Aroma is intense grass, pine resin, and a hint of tangerine. Taste is very light bready malt that gives way to an intense bitterness and flavors of tangerine, orange, and grass. Mouthfeel is medium to full for a IIPA with a nice creaminess and slight bit of alcohol warmth. Finishes somewhat dry with resinous character on tongue and lingering grassy hop character

12 oz bottle: Pours a clear deep golden with a clingy-lacing froth of white head. Has a fresh resinous piney nose with a mild pale malty sweetness. Starts with good fullness and nice malty sweetness dripping with hop juices and earthy bitterness before a drier crisp bittersweet finish with a hint of warmth. Well-balanced and true to style.
