2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 7/20
Bottle @ Steve’s Super Bowl party. Thanks Armin! Pours a hazy deep orange appearance with a fizzy off white head. A lot of ginger in the spicy noise. Some caramel apple as well. Tangy and tart flavor. Slight celery / veggie note that may just be coming from the ginger. Cinnamon and vanilla too. Light bitterness. My last favorite NG beer in ages.

> Spiced carrot cake, heavy cinnamon malty amber ale
[ Bottle ][ 12oz ][ TheEpeeist ][ Bonus ][ Tired Hands Stemware ][ 7.12.14 ]
>> Pours clear red amber, medium off-white head. Spotty lace. Awesome nose of carrot cake, cinnamon frosting, rum soaked biscotti, nutmeg. Taste is spiced cake, dusty, malty, sweet tea. A tad tannic and too dusty for me. Not bad.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Nutmeg, cinnamon ginger and toffee malt aroma - nutmeg is most dominate spice. Amber with large off-white head. Strong spicy toffee malt flavor - no one spice dominates in the flavor though. Not bad - just like the typical pumpkin beer without the pumpkin.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Seems based on the old winter warmer but miles better. Vanilla and spices elevate this brew.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottled. Poured clear lighter orange with a tall, dense, well-retained khaki head. The aroma picked up lots of cinnamon, ginger, and a kiss of licorice over softer bread and biscuity notes.. some warmth, and plenty of residual spices on the back of the nose. The flavor found more of the spices than anything else.. cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger over toffee and soft bready notes.. finished spicy and a bit hot. Medium-bodied with full, creamy carbonation.. more focused on the spicage than I was looking for, but it was aiight.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle thanks to Adam! Pours a hazy amber with a white head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has strong spice with a bit of a pine must and a sweet grain backbone. Flavor has sweet bread with Christmas spice with a bit of caramel.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, clear amber pour with white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, red fruit, oak, vanilla, tannic notes into a bit of earth, lots of cinnamon, ginger, slight cherry notes as well in there. Taste is a mix of sweet caramel, toffee, cherry, nice cinnamon and ginger in there, hints of red fruit, finishing fairly sweet.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle, red foil, 86 degrees outside, shoes and socks on, no viking helmet .. . toffee notes indeed but the spice takes over, some bread as well .. . good, but an odd release for the time and for the brewery .. . . i’m afraid of sharks – but only in a water situation.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz bottle from Hilltop Brewery (New Glarus, WI). Pours a nice deeper orange copper hue, gentle haze, healthy reddish glow trails out to that copper fire, decent carbonation with tannish bubbly layer of head atop, mellow lacing as it settles with decent lacing. Aromas are decent ginger, touches of allspice and cinnamon. A bit of carmelization, some biscuit and gentle toastiness. Mellow sweetness, touches of gentle caramel, a bit of oakiness and mellow tannic vanilla. The spice element is present but not overdone. Initial is medium bodied, some candied oranges and citrus rind up front, orange, caramel and toastiness. Carmelized with candied ginger, a bit of coolness. The middle is sweeter, that body ups the ante a bit with toffee, biscuits and caramel. Firmer spiciness, cinnamon and allspice, faint mace meets some decent oak and vanilla, touches of gentle sweetness but nothing overdone. A bit dry and spicy into the backend. This beer really runs the gambit well, nicer rich orange, cinnamon and ginger. A bit sweet at times but reeled in and back on pace with some dryness, toast, and firmer spicy finish that allows the beer’s namesake to do some work and spread it’s wings. This really actually works quite well, expertly crafted for a difficult and probably frequently overdone "style". Nice Wintery feel without being thick or cloying. Nice stuff.
