Indulge in our heady scotch ale. This "Winter Warmer" is a celebration of roasted toffee notes wrapped in rich tawny tones and toasty palate. Two months in the making insures an incredible silky finish. Scottish folklore tells that the first person to step over your threshold brings with them luck for the New Year. Simple gifts of coal for warmth, salt for prosperity and ale for joy symbolize the bearerís wishes.

Bottle... Pours clear and amber with a small, creamy, white head thatís gone in a flash. Unassuming aroma of toffee and biscuit. Nearly full-bodied with tickling carbonation. Toffee and biscuit flavor with a lightly acidic element. Finishes tangy and malty. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

Poured from a bottle it is a cloudy caramel color with a slight head. The aroma is apples and it tastes of some cinnamon with a zing of that which lingers on the palate.

bottle from Coffee Grounds. I can say nothing that Terminusí review doesnít already say perfectly. Fazit: not bad but not really a scotch ale.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a large beige puffy head that dissipates very slowly and leaves clumpy lacing on the glass. Aroma is caramel, toffee, perhaps a touch of cardboard. Flavor is fairly spiced, cinnamon, allspice, caramel. Medium sweet, no real tartness other than a bit of orange zest(?). Medium body, nice mouthfeel, but not really digging the spiciness and slight acidity.

Pour is reddish brown with a large bubbly head. Aroma is toffee, roasted malts, caramel and slight booze. Flavor is well balanced - toffee, caramel, light fruit, spice, subtle hop finish. Aftertaste is slight scotch and peat. Dry, high carbonation.

Bottle into the New Glarus footed glass. Let this one sit for about 6 months. Ruby brown color with smooth head with lacing. Toffee and caramel abound.

Bottle - itís a strange time of year to be drinking this, but I love a good scotch ale and I love New Glarus, so... - hazy reddish pour - nose actually smells fairly oaky, with strong notes of vanilla and toasted coconut - there are the requisite notes of peat and light smoke, but also some tropical character - overall interesting aroma - nice, frothy carbonation in the mouth - flavor is much like the aroma - strong earthiness and light smoke - vanilla and toasted coconut - light tropical flavors - finish is medium dry, with light touches of peat - interesting and enjoyable beer, but not really a scotch ale.
