COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Indulge in our heady scotch ale. This "Winter Warmer" is a celebration of roasted toffee notes wrapped in rich tawny tones and toasty palate. Two months in the making insures an incredible silky finish. Scottish folklore tells that the first person to step over your threshold brings with them luck for the New Year. Simple gifts of coal for warmth, salt for prosperity and ale for joy symbolize the bearer’s wishes.

February 23, 2013 bottle shared at Skyviews. Golden orange pour with some head that faded quickly. Aroma was caramel and alcohol. Taste was consistent with aroma and some spice.

Bottle. Orangish pour with a white head. Toffee, boozy, and sweet on the aroma and taste. A little spritzy for the style.

Bottle from the beer fridge at lake. Interesting / almost sour initial taste followed by toffee / boozie taste that improves as it warms. Tasty

Aroma is vinous, yeast and a hint of smoke. The flavor is mildly smoky malts, dark fruit and a good, warming alcoholic finish.

UPDATED: FEB 21, 2013 Pours hazy orange with fine decent head with OK retention and not much lacing. Aroma is very sweet malts and only a hint of bread, and then some yeast. Taste is a light sweet cherry into a peppery yeast. Palate is unreasonably carbonated. Aftertaste is moderately bitter. Not my favorite beer in not my favorite style.

12 oz bottle from Festival Foods (Eau Claire, WI). I love doing grocery stores for my New Glarus hauls as they always have the best prices. Pours a deep copper amber pour, touches of brown and deepness in the body. Good hazy middle, amber orange glow on the edges is striking. A cakey tannish head atop stays larger, laces pretty well. Aromas are spicy apple sweetness, toffee and carmelization, bready and biscuity malts. Some bigger apple feel at times, mellow earth, yeast, and spice. Gentle spiciness, nondescript sweeter biscuit and caramel malts, gentle kiss of yeast and faint cinnamon whisper. Initial is medium bodied, perhaps a touch lighter. Gentle carmelization, sweeter toffee, biscuits. Some creamy sweetness moves into some mellow yeast, spice, firm earthy hopping that combines with the toast, dries out a decent bit as we move back. Gentle toasty malts linger into the backend, some sticky toffee, caramel, and gentle fruitiness. A touch of heat, dried fruit. A bit bland an non-descript. Not quite what I’d expect from New Glarus a solid if forgettable Winter Ale.

Pours rust in color with an thick off white head. Mettalic notes in the aroma accompanied by dough and vanilla. Too much carbonation which hides a number of flavors.

Pours a clear orangish-copper with thick, soapy head. Grassy, floral aromas and flavor. Rather astringent, with a lot of carbonation. Not my favorite New Glarus variety...

Thanks to iNBe. Rich toffee flavors quite smooth too. Not too hoppy. Amber with a frothy head. Quite nice. Serving: Bottle
