4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle poured a clear orange amber with a small lingering amber head. Aromas of carmel, apple, pear, orange zest and apricot. Palate was medium bodied and crisp. Flavors of carmel, apricot, apple, orange zest and light spice with a crisp lingering fruity finish. A very tasty beer, but I would never guess it was a Scotch Ale.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
A golden amber ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, a sweet fruity malt with lots of phenolics, alcohol burn, banana, light Brett. In mouth, a bready malt with coriander, cloves, loads of warming alcohol, licorice, OK but not a scotch ale. Tasted with GRM March 1 2013.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
This beer is a slightly hazy dark amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Aroma of malt, butterscotch and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops, yeast and spices. The finish is dark fruit and malt, with some linger spice in the aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle... Pours clear and amber with a small, creamy, white head thatís gone in a flash. Unassuming aroma of toffee and biscuit. Nearly full-bodied with tickling carbonation. Toffee and biscuit flavor with a lightly acidic element. Finishes tangy and malty. Bottle courtesy of ctipping!

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JAN 14, 2015 Very clean and alty brew. some yeast which is almost bubblegummy. Overall it is solid but I would have liked more toasted malt character and a different english ale yeast. 2 year aged bottle: Darker pour than I remember, hazed amber poured with lees, the creamy off-white head sticks forever. Aroma of a brandy old fashioned, bubblegum, vanilla, oak, poached pear, ginger, and spice. Flavor is toffee and dark fruits, hit of alchol, some earthiness and spice. This aged really well. Bumped to a higher score

2.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle @ home, courtesy of arminjewell. Thanks! Gusher! Pours a bit hazy, reddish orange appearance with a cream colored head. Cola, caramel, orange fruity, toffee aroma. Heavily carbonated. Kind of chewy, cardboard/paper, toasted malty, caramel, a bit goopy, slightly herbal flavor that finishes with a bit of citrus. This sure hasnít held up well based on this bottle.

UPDATED: AUG 8, 2014 Rerate: Pour out of 12 oz bottle, big thanks to Jeff! Much less cardboard, nice caramel, toffee, dark plum, red fruits, no cardboard. Tasty.
Pour out of 12 oz bottle, dark orange red pour with off white head, aroma brought notes of caramel, toffee, hints of cola in there, touch of earth, slight spice, some cherry juice. Taste is a mix of dark fruit, cola, hints of dark caramel, lots of cardboard, hints of spice, finishing fairly sweet, slightly dry.

Bottle. Orangish pour with a white head. Toffee, boozy, and sweet on the aroma and taste. A little spritzy for the style.

"At first this seems to light in color and body for a scotch ale, but that ainít it. Color, maybe, but thatís irrelevant. Less chocolate malt and more toffee than a lot of wee heavies. It opens nicely and becomes pleasantly warming. I like this, but for a style I really like and a brewer I love I was just a tiny bit disappointed. Not as wee heavy in its presentation as Belgian. Fruity and even a little yeasty like a BSA instead of peaty like a scotch. Definitely enjoyed, though. Thanks again to Heybeerman for the trade."
