Indulge in our heady scotch ale. This "Winter Warmer" is a celebration of roasted toffee notes wrapped in rich tawny tones and toasty palate. Two months in the making insures an incredible silky finish. Scottish folklore tells that the first person to step over your threshold brings with them luck for the New Year. Simple gifts of coal for warmth, salt for prosperity and ale for joy symbolize the bearerís wishes.

Pours a light amber with lots of frothy head. Aroma is full with hints of toast, light fruits, and bits of malt goodness. Taste is sweet with a medium body and a slightly oily spicy finish. Overall a decent beer but Iíll always have a soft spot for Harpoonís

Bottle. Clear and amber with a small, creamy, white head that dissipates quickly. Mild nose of toffee. Nice sweet flavor. Nice finish.

c/o mnmike. Thanks again mike! Aroma - Brettanomyces yeast, alcohol, some spices and a honey like quality Appearance - orange body; liquid is clean, with lots of continuos nucleation; the head is huge about 2 1/2 " and of white the head takes some time to settle Taste - is sweet, but not overly sweet. There is an alcohol quality also present that is a combination of a Brettanomyces like yeast, honey, toffee, and molasses. Palate - body is medium; the texture is slick; the carbonation lively; the finish is a little boozy and just a touch bitter. Palate -

Aroma: toffee, caramel, some toasty grains, malty sweetness. Appearance: pours a slightly hazy copper color, off-white head with average retention. Taste: sweet malts, toffee and caramel, some dark fruit, warming alcohol but not hot or obnoxious. Low bitterness, fairly sweet finish. Palate: medium body, carbonation on the softer side.

Not really what I expected from a scotch ale. Aroma was kind of bland, a little cinnamon and spices. Taste is sweet with toffee and caramel. Itís not a bad beer, just not what I expected from a scotch ale

pours hazy golden with white head. aroma is odd, lots of spices cinnamon and cloves. flavors has a lot of cinnamon coming at you, some caramel from the malts, really just a mess of a beer, something a bad homebrewer would make so Iím very surprised this is coming from Dan Carey.

12 oz bottle and served in snifter: Pours a mahogany hue with a nice frothy head and lace. The aroma has notes of toffee, fruitcake, figgy pudding, sea salt, flowery and earthy yeast esters. The taste is quite malty and somewhat sweet with a dash of smoke and salt. The mouth feel is surprisingly sprite which helps cut the sweetness, shorter than expected finish. I would hard pressed to call this a Scotch Ale, more akin to a English styled Strong Ale. Still overall it is very quaffable, thanks Joe Popeck for the bottle.

Bottle. Hard to call this a Scotch Ale...Light Orange in color, with aromas of dried fruit- apricot and cherries. Some spicy yeast in there too. Taste is hot, with the alcohol noticeable right away. More dried fruit, sweet and malty. Toffee and caramel towards the end. More apricot too. More like a Dubbel than a Scotch. This is good, flavorful, and well made, despite the label...

Bottle in Vail. Thanks to adnielsen for sharing. Pours an orange color with white head. Malty, caramel, wood flavors. Meh, one of the lower end New Glarus beers.
