COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Indulge in our heady scotch ale. This "Winter Warmer" is a celebration of roasted toffee notes wrapped in rich tawny tones and toasty palate. Two months in the making insures an incredible silky finish. Scottish folklore tells that the first person to step over your threshold brings with them luck for the New Year. Simple gifts of coal for warmth, salt for prosperity and ale for joy symbolize the bearer’s wishes.

Courtesy of Skyview. Dark orange color with a medium head. Musty malt aroma. Malty flavor with a light bitterness. Lacks the malt profile of most Scottish/Scotch Ales.

"At first this seems to light in color and body for a scotch ale, but that ain’t it. Color, maybe, but that’s irrelevant. Less chocolate malt and more toffee than a lot of wee heavies. It opens nicely and becomes pleasantly warming. I like this, but for a style I really like and a brewer I love I was just a tiny bit disappointed. Not as wee heavy in its presentation as Belgian. Fruity and even a little yeasty like a BSA instead of peaty like a scotch. Definitely enjoyed, though. Thanks again to Heybeerman for the trade."

Dogbrick (8119) - Columbus, Ohio, USA - SEP 3, 2014
This beer is a slightly hazy dark amber color with a medium light beige head that diminishes steadily to a film. Aroma of malt, butterscotch and hops. Medium-bodied with flavors of caramel malt, earthy hops, yeast and spices. The finish is dark fruit and malt, with some linger spice in the aftertaste. Decent overall.

12 oz. bottle from Homer321- thanks again, Sean! Pours a cloudy orange-amber with a small off-white head that leaves a ring and some film that leans to one side. Aroma of fruitcake, allspice, nutmeg, caramel, and cardboard. Flavor of fruitcake, allspice, caramel, nutmeg, gingerbread, graham cracker, cardboard, and a metallic note at the end. Kind of boozy on the finish, too. Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation and a boozy, spritzy mouthfeel. Past its prime. Wish I’d gotten a hold of one sooner.

Rich and boozy with notes of toffee, coriander, anise, brown sugar. Tastes like a holiday brandy.

This is fantastic. Body and appearance are basically perfect for style... the German-esque attention to detail makes this English-style beer really shine. Rich malt presence that is perfectly attenuated leaving a nice toasted sugar finish, light hopping that compliments the strong alcohol. Nice and nutty aroma. Color me impressed. I’m guessing lager temperatures are what is paying off here.

Oh my. Delicious. Strong toffee. Buttered toast. Dark orange. Smooth. Thanks Erin, great Bday gift. Peppery.

23oz bottle 5/13/14 (Woodman’s-Waukesha)-46° in Shaker-Pours a hazy amber with a small off white head. Aroma of caramel, toffee, and spices. Taste of malt, spices, caramel, toffee, and alcohol. This full bodied brew is a nice sipping beer on a cold night.

12oz bottle poured into rocks glass. Clear reddish copper with a tall white head that quickly fades. No lacing, but that may be the glassware. Spiced pear, malt, toffee, and clove. Taste is initially bitter earthiness followed by toasted malt, bread, and caramel sweetness, ending with alcohol spice and pear esters. Medium-light body, creamy texture, active carbonation, and a semi dry toasted finish.
