COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Pure and crisp, this is a beer with nothing to hide. Wisconsin two-row barley malt ensures a mellow and smooth body. We imported Noble Hop varieties from Germany and the Czech Republic to ensure a fine mature aroma with no coarse bitterness. Expect this beer to pour a delicate golden hue that sparkles in the summer sun. Extra Pale is brewed using all natural ingredients with no artificial additives of any kind.

Golden color, with little head but good lace. Smells like wheat. Slight bread like taste. To be honest, reminds me of a lot of macrobrews, only less bitter. Won’t be buying this again.

Smooth drinking lager with an annoying Bazooka Joe bubblegum sweetness. Entirely unremarkable.

Probably one of the palest looking beers I've ever seen. It actually isn't bad, when you consider what they were going for. Nice subtle malt profile that doesn't have that vile, artificial carbonated bite that the macrobrews have. The larger question, I think, is why New Glarus decided to brew this type of beer? Their market certainly isn't the Bud Light drinker, but maybe they are thinking of diversifying? This is not a bad beer, but I won't buy it again. If I was in a bar that only served macros and this, I would take this without any hesitation. I imagine this would be good with grilled chops, corn on the cob and good summer food like that.

Coming from New Glarus, this was a let down. I knew not to expect much from something biling itself as a premium lager but surely it could have had more taste than this. If the Careys were trying to nail an upscale version of a macro, they succeeded. Unfortunately, that still results in a bland boring (mostly) flavorless beer. Pass on this one even if it is free.

Aroma / Appearance - A one-finger mottled head soon disappeared into the body which looked much like Barq’s cream soda with an added boost of carbonation. Corn, grain and butterscotch underline a very bland nose that is best described as buttered white toast. It is mildly offensive but it is moreso dull.

Flavor / Palate - The only flavor is that of hard butterscotch candy. There are some undertones of corn, grain and white bread but nothing lasts long enough to pin it down well. Overall this was extremely boring and predictable. Naturally it would also be easy to drink if your palate was used to this; for me it took a while to finish because I kept expecting something else.

I had one of these on tap in Lake Geneva, WI. I didn’t have any background on this beer so I didn’t know what to expect. When it came, I could tell it was a light lager. Pale straw color with foamy white head. Some mild grain aroma. Taste was grainy, corn, grass, touch of fruit and some mild hops. I had my hopes up that this would be a better beer, but it was a pretty average pale lager. Not overly impressed, but what it is, is a smooth, easy-drinking pale lager. Good for a summer day.

Bottle at the Birds-Pack Lambeau tailgate. Title intriguing, beer not so much, but not bad either. Based on the ingredients bill, was expecting more of a pilsner product, but this was more of a macro American Pilsner. More quality than BMC, but it was what it was. Aroma was grainy with light grass. Flavor is sweet grains (no cloying corn aspects, though), lacking a hop bite in the finish, yet still a light grass presence in the flavor. Would have been better dryer. Wanted: more flavor.

Pours yellow/gold. little to no head. Not much for flavor either, sweet malt, mild hops. Not terrible by any means, but not that amazing either.

It is definitely a pale lager. Light of flavor, aroma and color. Crisp and refreshing. Decent session beer.

It’s Christmas and the only thing open is a Holiday gas station. I wanted a treat and there isn’t a hell of a lot to choose from. The packaging on New Glaurs products is very plain and dosen’t provide much info. There were two different kinds, this and Fat Squirrel. Having no idea what kind of beer each is I picked one and hoped for the best. When I got home and discovered I just spent 8 bucks (6-pack) for pale lager I was a pit dissapointed. Oh well, cracked one and for pale lager it’s pretty good. Easy on the palate, average carbonation. Taste is easy going but better than a macrobrew, bit of hops. Like other reviews of this beer you definitely smell a grassy/hay aroma to it. Not bad beer, but not what I was looking for tonight. But hey, I’m getting a little buzzed!

I had this at the beach out of the bottle. It cooled me down. This beer is probably best drank in that sort of capacity. more for the function of the beer in cooling you off, rather than enjoying the flavor and soul of the beer. It didn’t have much of either of those.
