3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: AUG 12, 2014 Bottle: Thanks, Jeff! Dark brown, deep shades of ruby with a muddled, soft gray tinted head. Aroma is sweet dates and prune juice, light phenols, some vinous grape sweetness, and a bit of molasses in the back. Taste is softer than most quads; touch of phenol, bit of prunes and a slight hint of black licorice. Some sweet molasses and a little bit of alcoholic grape in the finish. Decent quad, but this isnít Danís best work.

3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from a trade as extra. Aroma is apple, grape must, and Belgian yeast. Flavor is missing that deep date flavor that exists in the best Belgians. Palate is great, carb. Good beer.

4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
pours an opaque dark brown with ruby hues and a medium tan head. aroma has dark fruit...fig and plum...with some toffee and very faint wine. flavor is slightly less fruity and has laters of leather and earthy bitterness...hint of chocolate mouthfeel is medium/full and silky with a nice earthy/fruity/leathery finish that hints at chocolate and coffee.

3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Poured dark brown with a thin tan head. Aroma and flavor were molasses, cherry and other dark fruit, moderatly sweet, lightly sour, some dark chocolate. Full mouthfeel. Quite good but not as well integrated as Belgian abts.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Pours a dark brown. No head. Tastes sugary sweet. Aroma has plenty of sugars coming through. Really not my thing, I guess.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours a nearly transparent dark brown with tons of dark fruits on the nose. Some candied sugar, malt and a little alcohol rounds out this beer.

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle courtesy of dschiller. Pours dark caramel brown with a lively off white head that disappears in seconds. Aromas are sherry, raisin, cherry, sugar and a very faint cola scent. Flavors are immaculate, big Candi Sugar, then some liquor soaked raisin, sherry fruits, some chocolate, blueberry, plum, perhaps even some peach/apricot tang and again some cola like notes. The palate is perfect, not too heavy or too carbonated; this sits beautifully on the tongue. Overall, the best example of the Abt style from an American brewery I have had to date, absolutely stupendous.

3.8 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 ounce bottle in a tulip glass, $5.99 in Madison, WI. Aroma is primarily raisins and some rum, some floral sweetness. Appearance is a dark, reddish brown without much of any foam. Taste is a lot like the nose: rum, roasted raisins, dates plums, all those sorts of fruits. It wasnít quite as punchy as I had expected, which made it more drinkable but less bold. Palate is smooth, low carbonation, medium bodied. Overall, itís a fine beer and very approachable. The best part was its easy-to-drink nature, which isnít enough to make it memorable, but still makes it enjoyable nonetheless.
