Commercial Description:
Inspired by the Trappist brewers of Belgium, our heavyweight Quadruple tips the O.G. scales at 25 degrees P. Master Brewer, Daniel Carey, sourced the Brett yeast that boldly frames this refined and complex strong ale. First coddled in our Oak lager tanks and then slowly matured in bourbon barrels. This is a bold beer that sips like a refined cordial of nutmeg, dried cherries and vanilla. Perfect for lying down or sipping by the fire tonight. http://www.newglarusbrewing.com/beers/unplugged belgian quad.html

Pours a bright golden. Nice toffee, butter rum, alcohol and cherries on the nose. Very nice spicy flavor with a good dose of toffee, and a nice floral hoppiness on the finish.

Bottle at Chris O’s, thanks to Chris. Amber with an off white head. Nose of malt, dried fruits and orange peel. Sweet and spicy with caramel, malt, citrus and yeast, some wood notes and alcohol. Not bad.

A Mes rate: Bottle at Chris O’s HogTownHarry minifest. Thanks to Chris. Amber colour with a darkish off white head. Sour aroma with malt and plenty off alcohol. Flavour is tangy and very sweet with some medicinal notes. Close to great but not quite there. I’m sure with a bit of age this would mellow and be much better.

Bottled sample shared with oakbluff. Light amber in colour with moderate (although fairly spritzy) carbonation. The beer was a bit too cold when we opened it, and the initial aroma was a bit "wet dog" like. However,as it warmed, everything started falling into place, with notes of light caramel, wood, cherry pits, vanilla, and a bit of funk. More caramel malts and wood in the mouth, along with a bit of spice, booze, and dried fruit. Definitely lighter bodied than any quad I’ve had, but the interest and drinkability provided by the wild yeast more than makes up for it. Very unique. Be sure to let it warm up a bit before you smell or drink it!

Malty and almost tangy aroma. Much more yeasty and tart and less malty than I expected. Different from most quads that I’ve had, but interesting. I’d like to have it again alone so that I could really spend some time with it.

An aroma of fruitiness. A dark amber pour with almost no head. A flavor of dried fruit and sweet maltiness with a very warm finish. Slightly agressive carbonation but the palate is solid. A bit sweet but overall a good offering.

Word to TBC for hooking this one up. Very enjoyable, smooth, simple quad. Pours a clear orangish, brownish color. Hints of vanilla, wood, oak in the flavor. Aromas of vanilla and raisins. Medium bodied, smooth finish. Flavors and aromas are simple but enjoyable by themselves.

This Belgian Quad pours a medium amber color from a 12oz bottle. Small sized to no head. Aroma is fruity and sweet, some yeast and some oak. There is also some cherries and a touch of funk. A medium bodied quad. The malts are fruity and sweet. Candi sugar and a hint of brown sugar as well. There are hints of oak and bourbon and cherries and some funk. Wow there is a lot going on in this beer. There is some interesting spice interplay as well. Its nowhere near as full in the mouth as most quads, but it has a certain quality that make this a very nice beer to sit and sip and figure out and enjoy the interplay of flavors. Hides the alcohol well. Nice beer. Mouthfeel is full, but not thick. Finish is clean and smooth. Aftertaste is slightly sweet with a slight hint of alcohol.
